Thinktown America is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor (Business Track) to guide students in Business Management subjects, assist with academic competitions, and support their college application processes, all in a remote working environment.

Thinktown America, the US-based division of Thinktown Education, is seeking a motivated Academic Advisor (Business Track) to work full-time. We are currently working remotely and will be keeping a fully remote/hybrid working mode.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Reading and Writing Subjects (RWS) product:

· International Baccalaureate (IB) Business Management Courses: research course material, develop and design course contents (including course slides, homework, reading materials, practice tests) on “External Assessment” Part

· International Baccalaureate (IB) Business Management Courses: tutor students in IB Business Management Courses on “External Assessment” Part, conducts practice tests to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation

· International Baccalaureate (IB) Business Management Courses: Guide students on Internal Assessment (IA), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), mostly focusing on subject-focused academic writing (including advisory, brainstorm, edit)

· College Application Subject Assistance: Assists students with close-reading, homework, projects, test preparation, papers, academic research and other academic tasks during college application process related to Business Management subject

· Personal Subject-related Planning: Provides educational guidance and assistance for students by introducing subject-related career development, planning schedules, recommending courses, and determining personalized education solutions for different types of students in the field of business management

· Group Subject-related Reading: Recommends Business news and Business webinars from think tanks and international organizations to students in a regular basis, holds small-group reading seminars when necessary

· Offers feedback on progress to students' parents and teachers where appropriate

· Most of the advisory and tutoring will happen in one-on-one or small group settings, in the form of Zoom-meeting. The academic advisor also provides students positive and constructive feedback after each meeting.

Academic Competitions and Events (ACE) product:

· Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition: Coaches students or student groups in preparation for FBLA tests and presentation, including but not limited to researching and distributing related academic materials, organizing quiz sessions for students, meeting and brainstorming with students for group projects, editing and promoting final presentation slides or business reports, offering guidance about presentation skills.

· Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition: Coaches student groups in preparation for BPA presentation, including but not limited to researching and distributing related academic materials, meeting and brainstorming with students for group projects, editing and promoting final presentation slides or business reports, offering guidance about presentation skills.

· Model Entrepreneurship Competition (MEC): Coaches student groups in preparation for MEC business plan and product promotion video, including but not limited to researching and distributing related academic materials, meeting and brainstorming with students for group projects, editing and promoting final business plan reports, offering guidance about video filmscript and recording.

· International Economics Olympiad (IEO): Trains students about methods and knowledge in doing IEO business case, including providing knowledge tutoring and mock business case sessions

· Summer School Application Subject Assistance: Recommends appropriate Business summer school for students and facilitates the application process

· Personal Subject-related Planning: Plans competition schedules, recommends appropriate Business-Related competition and coaches for students based on students’ capabilities and willingness. Assists in making appropriate travel arrangements and communicates with families regarding competitions or other events in a timely manner

Communications:

· Communicates with customers and supports their personal education needs in Business Management subject

· Cooperates with Business Management tutors, product manager and other academic advisors based on work needs

Marketing:

· Collaborates with Personal Planning Team to provide contents and materials required for product marketing

· Assists product manager and academic research desk as needed

Basic Qualifications:

· Fluency in Mandarin and English (written, spoken, and reading)

· A minimum of master’s degree in Business or Economics related fields

· Background knowledge in two or more of the following fields is required: business case study, marketing, accounting, finance, business strategy and plan, entrepreneurship, Microeconomics and Macroeconomic

· Great academic writing skills in English

· A fast learner and a problem solver

· Experience with or interest in working with a multicultural team that’s spread out across various time zones

· Strong organizational and analytical skills, and can work multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

· Exceptional communication skills and social awareness

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in studying or teaching IB Business Management is preferred

· Experience in participating or coaching FBLA, BPA, MEC, IEO or other business competitions is preferred

As an Academic Advisor, you will focus on a particular track as indicated in the job posting title, at the same time, you will also act as one or more of these 11 roles as described below, according to personal conditions and company needs.

· ES: Edit application essays and school academic essays with students

· BS: Brainstorm application essays and school academic essays with students

· Sales: Research and prepare materials for sales pitches to students and their parents, provide students and their parents with consultancy session and sell Thinktown products

· Tutor: Conduct lectures and training sessions either online or in person

· Supervisor: Course arrangement and follow-up

· Consulting Associate of Education (CAE): Provide high level college application and career planning counseling to students which includes: (1) School and major selection, daily communication and follow-up with students and parents, phased application material collection and collation (2) Course selection guidance (3) English-test planning and counseling (4) Academic competition planning and counseling (5) Extracurricular activities design, planning and follow up

· Curriculum Practice Specialist (CPS): Provide high and middle level college application and career planning counseling to students which includes: (1) School and major selection, daily communication and follow-up with students and parents, phased application material collection and collation, application status follow-up, application tables fill-in, visa guidance (2) Course selection guidance (3) English-test planning and counseling, English-writing tutoring, mock interview (4) Academic competition planning and counseling (5) Extracurricular activities design, planning and follow up (6) Information research, students’ information collection and collation

· Academic Advisor: Supervise in advising subject related products, provide educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses, and determining personalized education solutions, assists students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, academic research, and academic writing, provides subject competition and event consultation.

· Business Product Manager (BPM): Support one or part of an educational product, which may involve conducting market research, writing product handbook, coordinating strategies, monitoring project progress and collecting regular product feedback

· Global Event Coordinator: Help coordinate both internal and external events; Support building and adhering to an event budget to avoid project overruns; Coordinate and maintain external relationships with students, parents, and event partners

· Content Production Associate: Co-manage Thinktown’s media accounts and platforms (WeChat, Facebook, Official website) and optimize content, plan and write for account articles especially for WeChat; Design marketing content for our main products
