Summary:

An all-boys, all-boarding college-preparatory school serving 180 students, Blue Ridge School’s 751-acre campus lies along the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains 20 miles from Charlottesville, Virginia.

With an average class size of nine students, faculty members are able to help each student discover the best way to master the course material and challenge each student to reach beyond self-determined limits and fulfill his untapped potential.

The Advancement Office Manager (AOM) supports the day-to-day operations of the BRS Advancement office, with a central role of assisting both the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement and the Director of the Baron Fund in their leadership of their respective programs.

In this key role, the AOM works collaboratively with every member of the External Affairs team – which includes admission, special programs, and communication/marketing. The AOM also plays an important communications role between the departments, helping to create added value and greater coordination between Advancement specifically, External Affairs generally, and the rest of the School.

Qualifications:

  • Two -Year College degree or equivalent required
  • Self-starter with a high degree of motivation, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, handling multiple assignments in a busy department while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an engaging manner, with the ability to establish and foster positive relationships within the BRS community and with our external constituents.
  • Broad knowledge of databases - experience in Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FormStack, and mail merge procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day work of the Advancement Team, working closely with the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement, The Director of the Baron Fund in the variety of meetings, contacts, and programs in which they participate, both together and separately
  • Serve as an additional Blackbaud administrator for the Advancement Office. Produces reports in response to requests for information from these databases
  • Support the weekly production and mailing of thank-you letters for Advancement in coordination from the External Affairs Database Coordinator and the Director of the Baron Fund
  • Support direct mail and marketing efforts for the Advancement Team
  • Coordinate with various outside vendors
  • Make necessary arrangements for department-related travel including transportation, rental car and hotel accommodations
  • Support in the planning of special events and engages VIP guests and friends on campus
  • Review and reconciles bills and travel vouchers for the Advancement team
  • Order supplies for the Advancement Office as needed and keeps appropriate inventory on-hand
  • Maintain a “sample book” of all significant mailings and appeals (print and electronic) sent from the Advancement Office each year
  • Support the periodic logistical needs of the Director of Special Programs, particularly with communications that promote BRS summer offerings
  • Respond to inquiries and administrative problems as needed
  • Demonstrate continued professional curiosity and growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement, Director of the Baron Fund and/or the Associate Head of School for External Affairs

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 25% walking, and 5% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
