Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Export Specialist to manage and expand DGI's international sales of high-demand agricultural products, including cash crops, staple grains, root vegetables, pulses, and livestock. This role involves overseeing export processes, identifying new global markets, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and building strong client relationships. The ideal candidate has a strong background in agricultural trade, international sales, and export logistics, and is willing to relocate to appointed farm locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new market opportunities for a wide variety of agricultural products and livestock, including:
- Cash Crops: Cotton, Sugarcane
- Cereal Crops: Maize, Wheat
- Root and Tuber Crops: Sweet Potato, Potato, Cassava
- Pulses and Legumes: Lentils, Chickpeas
- Oilseeds: Sunflower, Soybean
- Livestock: Cattle, Poultry, Sheep
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with overseas buyers, distributors, and partners to drive repeat business and customer loyalty.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all exports meet international standards and regulatory requirements, including documentation, quality control, and certifications for both crops and livestock.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Manage logistics, from farm to overseas destination, including freight, warehousing, and transportation needs.
- Market Research & Analysis: Conduct market research to assess demand trends, pricing, and competitive landscapes for various agricultural products.
- Negotiation & Contract Management: Negotiate terms of sale, including pricing, shipping, and product specifications with international buyers.
- Reporting: Track and report on export activity, sales performance, and market feedback to refine export strategy.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Experience: 5-7+ years in agricultural export sales, international trade, or a similar role, ideally with experience in both crops and livestock.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in export regulations, logistics, and customs documentation for agricultural products and livestock.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market research and analyze data.
- Knowledge of global agricultural trade standards and trends.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Multilingual abilities are advantageous.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and trade management software.
- Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to relocate to appointed farm locations to oversee and coordinate export activities as needed.
