Aquatics Coordinator
LOCATION

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field, 4+ years experience in Aquatics, supervisory experience preferred, First Aid and CPR certifications required, strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with daily operations of the Aquatics Department, coordinate staff schedules, ensure safety compliance, handle aquatics inquiries, manage program budgets, compile statistics, maintain facilities, and participate in key staff meetings and campaigns.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Aquatics Coordinator will support the East Orange YMCA's Aquatics Department by overseeing program operations, staff management, and ensuring compliance with policies, while fostering a positive environment in alignment with YMCA values.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Aquatics and Youth Sports Director of the East Orange YMCA, the Aquatics Coordinator will assist with the overall daily operation of the Aquatics Department. Major areas include, but are not limited to, coordinating staff schedules, ensuring policies, and procedures are followed. The Aquatics Coordinator is required to assist in the operation of the aquatics programs in compliance with YMCA best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with recruitment, train, schedule personnel and volunteers as needed.
- Ensure staff certifications are current and keep accurate records.
- Assist the Maintenance Director in conducting and ensure proper maintenance of facilities.
- Comply with all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Comply with all safety rules and use of all appropriate safety equipment.
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Assist Aquatics to develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Respond to all aquatics inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Participate in the Association Aquatics Quality Team.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively in order to ensure parents and families are fully engaged with programs.
- Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Order and purchase supplies within the confines of the Department budget.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Serve as a member of the Key Staff team which includes Director on Duty, regular meeting attendance and participation at branch and Association-related special events.
- Participate in and support the Annual Support Campaign and play a leadership role in this campaign at the YMCA.
- Maintain professional and courteous demeanor, and positive attitude when dealing with staff, parents or members.
- As a member of key staff, share responsibility for the administration of the success for the overall Branch performance and help maintain a positive image for the Wayne YMCA.
- Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Exhibit professional behavior in a manner consistent with the best interest of the Association, so as not to bring discredit to the Association.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and planning skills.
Pool deck supervisor, Lifeguards, Group instructors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management or related area.
- At least four years working experience in the Aquatics field.
- One year of supervision experience in a pool facility is preferred.
- First Aid, CPR,Lifeguard certifications required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Experience with relevant software applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to exercise effective independent judgment and sound decision-making.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work as a member of the team, provide high quality customer service, and maintain productive relationships with other agencies, YMCA members, and staff is essential.
Sufficient strength, ability, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
