SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Aquatics Supervisor at the Wilfred R Cameron Wellness Center is responsible for the programming and management of the aquatics department, focusing on member satisfaction, staff training, and safety.
The Wilfred R Cameron Wellness Center managed by Arch Amenities Group, the world's leading spa, fitness and leisure management firm, is seeking an Aquatics Supervisor. The Aquatics Supervisor, under the direction of the Fitness, Aquatics, Sports and Recreation Director, will be responsible for assisting in the daily programming of the aquatics department; implementing policies and strategic plans; training and supervision of instructors; ensuring the highest levels of member satisfaction; and possess the ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve goals and exceed member expectations
Responsibilities:
- Interview, hire, train, and lead department staff
- Performs annual staff performance reviews for all Aquatic Instructors and evaluates employee performance on a regular basis, providing support with development plans or corrective actions as needed.
- Audit and review swim lessons formally annually and informally frequently. Ensure proper instruction with emphasis on safety and accommodating various member skill levels within each class.
- Develop and implement department operating procedures, standards and expectations, with quality measures and control.
- Consistently maintain expense control measures for the department, with careful attention to scheduling and payroll.
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual program plans, with descriptions and outline of business model.
- Work with Marketing Coordinator on marketing needs for seminars, events, programs, and classes throughout the center and community.
- Motivate staff to help achieve annual sales goals and participant retention and growth.
- Secures schedules, substitutes and fills holes in swim lesson schedule
- Submits incident reports in a timely matter.
- Ensures Aquatics Team Members provide a clean, safe, and friendly environment for the Members.
- Provides exceptional customer service and meets Basics-To-Excellence standards.
- Assists in responding to Member inquiries regarding programs, products, services, policies, and procedures in a professional and timely manner.
- Assists in creating a fun & safe aquatics environment.
- Assists in registering Members for group as well as private swim lessons and programming.
- Assist with payroll and back office work as needed.
- Any other task and/or duty assigned
- Assist with functions and tasks associated with special events.
- Teaches swim lessons for at least 10 hours per week.
- Ensures all staff certifications are current in the department.
- Acts as Manager-On-Duty shifts when needed.
- Ensures Aquatics Team Members provide a safe and friendly environment for the Members.
- Leads the swim instructor staff in upholding Arch Amenities Group service standards.
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First-Aid certified
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Able to lift 45lbs
- Able to sit or stand for entire shift
- Able to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- The employee may be required to push, pull, and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Normal work hours: Varied to include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment.
- This position required the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and talk
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred
- Certified Pool Operator Trainer preferred
