The Art Director leads the Creative Studio at DC International, creating high-quality visual content that enhances brand identity and engages customers across various platforms.
This is a hybrid position working three days a week in the Carrollton, Texas office.
The Art Director leads the Creative Studio at DC International, overseeing the creation of high-quality visual content that supports the storytelling and strategic goals of both Coverstore and Leatherology. This role is instrumental in producing visual content that engages customers, drives sales, and elevates each brand’s identity across ecommerce, print, and digital platforms. The Art Director collaborates with brand teams to develop creative concepts, establishes and ensures adherence to design systems—including typography and visual elements—and maintains a consistent visual identity across paid, owned, and earned channels. They bring a visionary approach to graphic design, UI/UX design, and advertising while managing a team of talented graphic designers. Additionally, they play a key role in conceptualizing campaigns and ensuring the effective use of photo and video assets.
Responsibilities
1. Creative Leadership and Brand Storytelling
- Define and maintain cohesive design systems for each brand, including typography, color palettes, and visual elements, ensuring consistency across all channels.
- Partner with brand teams to conceptualize and execute visual content that supports storytelling, engages customers, and aligns with strategic goals.
- Oversee the development of creative concepts for advertising campaigns and visual marketing assets across paid, owned, and earned media.
- Ensure creative direction aligns with brand positioning and audience expectations.
2. Oversight of Visual Content & Editing
- Lead the development of digital and print advertising assets, ensuring alignment with brand identity and marketing objectives.
- Provide direction for photography and video content creation, ensuring high-quality execution while maintaining a cohesive brand aesthetic.
- Edit photo and video content to optimize it for advertising campaigns, ecommerce, and other marketing channels.
- Ensure the Creative Studio delivers visually impactful and timely content that adheres to best practices and enhances customer engagement.
3. Team Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage and mentor the Creative Studio team, fostering creativity and excellence among designers and content specialists.
- Work with marketing, merchandising, and ecommerce teams to align creative output with broader company goals and brand strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., agencies, freelancers) to ensure seamless execution of creative projects.
- Maintain efficient workflows and processes to enhance productivity within the Creative Studio.
This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on creative leader with a strong background in digital content creation, advertising, and brand storytelling. The Art Director should be proficient in photo and video editing, skilled in managing a design team, and passionate about building visually compelling brand experiences.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in creative leadership, with expertise in graphic design, video content creation, and advertising.
- Strong background in developing and implementing design systems, including typography and visual elements, for multi-channel use.
- Proven experience in visual storytelling for ecommerce, retail, and digital platforms, with a portfolio demonstrating impactful work.
- Expertise in editing and optimizing photo and video content for advertising campaigns and digital marketing.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of UI/UX best practices, with the ability to contribute to ecommerce website design and optimization.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of managing and mentoring creative teams.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities, ensuring collaboration across teams and timely delivery of assets.
- Familiarity with trends in digital marketing & advertising, social media, and ecommerce, and the ability to adapt creative strategies accordingly.
