Seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead daily operations, enhance customer experiences, and manage restaurant staff in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager to lead our team and oversee the daily operations of our establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for the food service industry, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing staff, inventory, and overall restaurant performance.
Responsibilities
- Your responsibilities as Assistant General Manger include but not limited to:
● Assisting the General Manager
● Act as General Manager in their absence
● Ensure policies are upheld and report concerns to the General Manager
● Streamlining the restaurant processes to improve guests experiences
● Opening and closing the restaurant
● Daily responsibility to reduce labor without negatively effecting service
● Maintain a monthly inventory
● Maintain primecosts
● Ordering: liquor, wine, beer, bar consumables, bar & restaurant supplies, janitorial supplies, kitchen (when necessary).
● Updating bar order guide with new product and pricing
● Scheduling for FOH and BOH departments (if needed). Adjusting the schedule based on the needs of the restaurant & bar
● Assist General Manager with employee relations including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, firing, discipline or corrective action for all FOH & BOH staff as needed
● Active role leading and developing our hourly staff by training and mentoring FOH staff in all departments while promoting Press Room’s culture
● Manage and oversee the hostess department
● Having a strong floor presence while resolving customers’ questions and grievances in a professional manner
● Ensuring that the restaurant adheres to pertinent health and safety regulations. Maintain the facility while upholding our standards of excellence and hospitality
● Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations
● Work with the marketing coordinator on brand marketing
● Represent restaurant to the public while building community relationships
- Understanding restaurant concept and accurately introducing the restaurant to potential clients
- Prepare accurate written correspondence including letters, contracts, reports, banquet event orders, schedule of events, printed menus, and e-mails using MS Word.
- Maintain accounts, including traces, creating, sourcing, and updating bookings, and the execution of Banquet Event Orders.
- Comply with restaurants standards for sales and marketing, while working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and Management team.
- Assist with front of house operations including greeting and directing guests, manning hospitality desks, and working with Banquets on setup and clean up when necessary.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management.
- Maintain an inventory of all standard department supplies and printed materials, including but not limited to Catering Corporate and wedding packets, special menu cards and velum.
- Assist clients and seek out solutions to requests in a friendly, caring, and helpful manner.
- Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
- Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it
- Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
- Recommend and implement ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. social media ads)
Experience
- Proven experience in restaurant management or food service management is essential.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control processes and cash handling procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in team management, staff training, and supervising diverse teams.
- Familiarity with Aloha POS or similar point-of-sale systems is preferred.
- Experience in catering operations is a plus but not required.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
