SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director, Marketing will execute integrated marketing and communications plans for university initiatives, ensuring consistency in brand messaging across various platforms, while effectively managing projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- In collaboration with colleagues across UMC and the university, plan, develop, and implement integrated marketing plans for University initiatives, taking a multi-channel approach, across web and digital, advertising, social media, video, print collateral, and events.
- Oversee the development and execution of marketing projects such as print collateral, direct marketing, social media, digital marketing tactics, and email campaigns.
- Write and edit copy for marketing channels including publications, ads, emails, social media posts, web pages, and video scripts, and ensure consistency in brand messaging across all channels.
- Assist the AVP with continuous development, management, and refinement of digital, social, and print advertising campaigns
- Drive projects forward maintaining focus on the primary business objectives, helping to prioritize deliverables through project plans, and tracking progress within the project management software system, Wrike.
- Optimize website content to be on-brand and search engine friendly.
- Assist with planning and organization of photo and video shoots.
- Monitor and evaluate the competitive higher education landscape and general marketplace for various marketing strategies, staying informed of industry best practices and innovative strategies; provide recommendations for optimization and improvement.
- Maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy for all deliverables.
- Manage special projects as requested by the Vice President and/or AVP
- Assist with key University events as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 3-5 years successful experience in marketing.
- Possesses strong visual, verbal, and written communications skills, excellent problem- solving skills, and works effectively with a wide variety of University staff, including direct client interface on projects.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy of work.
- High comfort level in using project management systems to optimize workflow and business processes.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Project Management and Cloud Collaboration software.Ability to work independently, juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy of work. - Knowledge of marketing best practices in higher education related to enrollment, advancement, and institutional branding.
- Previous experience working in a higher education environment.
- Ability to update, build, and maintain web content in the WordPress CMS.
- Ability to build HTML emails within email marketing platforms.
- Evening and weekend work may be necessary
