Position Summary
The Assistant Director, Digital Strategy and Marketing is a role that combines creativity, innovation and collaboration in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a goal-oriented focus. This position supports the marketing and recruiting of qualified prospective students for application and enrollment by executing digital and other marketing strategies including graphics, web content development, email, texting, social media, video, print, user-generated content and multimedia tools. The Assistant Director will manage and motivate the Digital Strategy and Marketing team to produce inspirational messaging in new and cutting-edge ways to reach the appropriate audiences in marketing and advertising platforms. The position will report to the Sr. Director of Enrollment Services and will identify, evaluate, implement and report on effective strategies utilizing tactics for search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), and optimized website content. This individual will work with management, direct reports, internal stakeholders and outside vendors to execute initiatives that are in line with the University’s overall marketing and enrollment goals.

Position is eligible for remote work after a successful six month evaluation.

Description of Job Duties
  • Design and maintain brand elements for marketing pieces, internal documents, printed content, websites, social media, emails, online ads and landing pages.
  • Oversee targeted audiences through paid campaigns using available tools on lead generation sites, aggregators and other digital platforms.
  • Implement designated digital strategies through established interdepartmental and external partnerships to meet enrollment objectives.
  • Conceptualize and support effective paid search engine marketing campaigns through Google Ads and other SEM tools with graphics and ad copy in cooperation with other team members.

  • Write and manage the creation of promotional messaging, blogs, graphics, print, video and other content elements to support consistent marketing and enrollment strategies and messages on all platforms.
  • Update content, graphics, and multimedia on university websites, landing pages, mobile, text messages, video and partner sites to grow user interaction and application conversions.
  • Develop user generated content strategies and a content repository to use in marketing efforts.
  • Enhance and direct search engine optimization through site content development, page setup, link strategies and other SEO tactics.
  • Coordinate videos, photography and events including writing, directing and approval of final production.
  • Ensure content and messaging is factual, appropriate and meets University guidelines.

  • Collaborate with university web team on web functionality and content strategies with an enrollment focus and excellent user experience (UX) practices.

  • Research, recommend and assist with implementation of tools and features to drive interaction on all devices.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong digital and social media advertising and posting skills over multiple platforms.
  • Excellent proficiency in graphic programs: Adobe Creative Suite 6 including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong skills in writing and editing marketing copy with adherence to a style guide.
  • Strong proficiency in Content Management Systems (CMS) with functional HTML skills.
  • Strong skills in email and texting campaign development.
  • Proficiency in data collection, evaluation and reporting of web applications to attribute effectiveness across all digital marketing channels.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, staff, priorities and accomplish tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and keep all projects progressing.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.

Required Work Experience
  • Four (4) years of marketing experience to include three (3) years of digital marketing experience.
  • Two (2) years of leadership or supervisory responsibilities of professional level staff.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Higher education marketing/admissions experience.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals which may include some weekends.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs of photo shoot and promotional materials; ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve respective materials.
  • Ability to push/pull equipment carts holding up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in photo shoots and events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
