SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director for Graduate Enrollment Marketing and Communications leads the development of marketing and communication strategies aimed at recruiting graduate students, partnering closely with the Graduate Admission team to drive effective outreach and engagement.
The Assistant Director for Graduate Enrollment Marketing and Communications develops marketing, communications and promotional materials for recruiting graduate students. The position is expected to be a leader in developing a graduate recruitment communications strategy for both email communications as well as print and digital marketing. The Assistant Director will be a close partner with the Graduate Admission team in developing and implementing effective graduate recruiting strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that communication flows (comm flows) within Slate for prospective graduate students are developed and distributed as planned and that content is correct, up-to-date and relevant; including an annual review of all Slate communications and updates as needed throughout the year.
- Assists department leadership with undergraduate recruiting marketing and communications within Slate, as well as undergraduate recruitment marketing in digital and print formats.
- Works closely with the Graduate Admission team, Graduate Program Directors and the Vice Provost for Graduate Education to identify communication opportunities and desired outcomes for recruitment strategy.
- Develops effective and data-driven reports that track the effectiveness of communications and outreach using Slate data.
- Serves as the lead with digital marketing vendors for graduate recruitment marketing, ensuring that all communications and ads meet our overall brand and recruitment strategies.
- Develops (writes, edits, proofs, builds) messages to be distributed via Slate and other deliverables as appropriate to prospective graduate students.
- Implements best practices in higher education related to marketing and communications for graduate recruitment.
- Identifies and develops opportunities for web and print communications while ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of program webpages and one-sheets in collaboration with Graduate Admission team and Program Directors.
- Assists with developing strategies for social media, web, text and other marketing technologies in collaboration with other Communications staff.
- Collaborates with all areas of campus to effectively market and brand St. Mary's to prospective students and the larger community.
- Assists with brand management and presentation materials for recruitment-related events and activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications or related field required.
- Three or more years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or enrollment recruiting. Experience building communication flows and/or working in Slate CRM preferred. Graduate recruiting experience is highly desired.
- Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
- Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance, and personal injury insurance, or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business daily.
- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including writing and editing, and the ability to adhere to University style guidelines.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint). experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom. Canva and Adobe Creative Suite skills are desirable.
- Must be able to work weekend, evenings and late hours as necessary.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive and effective relationships with members of the campus community.
- Must be able to serve as a communications leader, proactively developing communications initiatives that promote and project the mission and goals of graduate programs and the University.
- Must have strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to always implement diplomacy and discretion; must have the ability to work effectively with communities across the University.
- Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; display solid problem-solving and interpersonal skills; work well independently and as part of a team. Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day-to-day business.
- While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
