The primary purpose of the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach is to play an integral role in the effective operation of the men’s soccer program, develop young men in the North Central College men’s soccer philosophy, to direct aspects of the overall soccer program strategy including recruitment, development, and retaining student-athletes. The assistant soccer coach will also work with the Director and Assistant/Associate Director of Athletics helping further develop, implement, and evaluate components of departmental athletic events and leadership programs.
- Assist the head men’s soccer coach to develop a comprehensive soccer recruiting plan. Establish a working list of top recruits in addition to a position-specific list. Set and plan for the accomplishment of overall soccer and specific position goals for first-year and transfer soccer players. Train, assign and evaluate the recruiting work with coaching staff. Serve as a liaison to the admission office, developing appropriate budgets, marketing and personnel for soccer recruiting projects and programs. Maintain active communication with the admission staff and through phone, in-person and electronic means. Call, text, e-mail, and write prospects and coaches; record all recruiting action. Knowledge and use of the College-funded recruiting service is expected.
- Hold primary responsibility for coordinating on campus visits, programs, student and parent communication. Attend high school and club soccer games during the season, visit high schools to meet with recruits, call and write players and record recruiting action. Assign coaches within the program a list of schools to visit based on priority high school and club programs. Require a comprehensive list of school visits to ensure that the program is well represented and known across the state and the region.
- Organize and participate in all on-campus recruiting activities including all admissions Visit Days. Organize official and unofficial campus and overnight visits.
- Serve as the primary coach responsible for all reserve practices and games for the soccer program.
- Coach a particular soccer specialty, organize standard practices, and develop individual players in those positions.
- Develop game day preparations, in conjunction with the entire coaching staff, by analyzing film, designing strategies, communicating with players in the specialty area and writing reports. Execute game day preparation; analyze game performance primarily in the specialty area with players in designated positions.
- Monitor the academic progress of all the players on the team, including coordinating and monitoring study tables, as well as working in connection with the coaching staff, compliance officer, the director of student-athlete academic support program, the assistant/associate athletic director and the athletic director.
- Spearhead all team travel logistics to away games including ground and air transportation, meals, and lodging.
- Act as the immediate supervisor for graduate assistant and/or team manager(s). Develop job descriptions, train, evaluate and supervise the team manager(s).
- Assist with the direction of all game day activities. Develop and maintain film exchange with opponents in compliance with conference rules and regulations. Contact visiting teams, call game day officials, deliver checks for the officials and other functions as they relate to the day of competition.
- Organize and maintain a complete inventory of men’s soccer gear and hardware.
- Assist the Director of Athletics and the Athletic Events and Facilities Manager with select departmental athletic event management.
- Develop and organize promotional activities for the men’s soccer program including newsletters for men’s soccer booster club, Faculty Mentor Program, Parent’s Day and Alumni Day activities, Senior Day activities, fundraisers during the academic year, summer camps, and other marketing and promotional activities.
- Develop and implement an on-going professional development plan as it relates to soccer in general, recruiting and the soccer specialty area.
- A secondary administrative duty will be assigned by the athletic department administration.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
