Assistant Publicist for The William Morrow Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, supporting senior members on title-specific publicity campaigns and leading own campaigns.
**Overview**
The William Morrow Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, is seeking an Assistant Publicist. The Morrow Group is comprised of several imprints – flagship imprint William Morrow, as well as Dey Street Books, Mariner Books, Harvest, Harper Voyager, and Avon Books – and publishes a range of titles across most publishing categories, from bestselling mysteries and romances to prize-winning literary fiction, cookbooks, politics, and pop culture titles. In this role, you will both support senior members of the department on title-specific publicity campaigns, as well as lead your own campaigns. This position is based out of NYC on a hybrid schedule.
**Responsibilities**

Assists senior team members with various aspects of high-profile book launch campaigns.

Manages all aspects of publicity campaigns for own projects each season.

Drafts press releases and pitches, reaches out to targeted press, organizes feedback, helps coordinate interview logistics, tracks media coverage.

Generates media contact lists and contributes to maintaining a shared database.

Schedules book tour logistics and works with travel agency to coordinate author travel itineraries.

Maintains campaign-specific budgets.

Attends select book signings, escorts authors to media interviews, and helps staff special events.

Communicates detailed campaign updates directly to senior publicity staff, editors, marketers, sales team, agents, and authors.

Researches new media and creative promo opportunities, including influencers across Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms.

Responds to outside inquiries, including review copy requests and general information questions.

Coordinates mailings of books, galleys, and other materials.
**Qualifications**

Prior internship experience in publishing and/or public relations a plus.

Can work collaboratively and independently while contributing to department goals.

Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

Ability to handle information confidentially.

Comfortable presenting in front of large groups.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

The salary for this position is $48,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
