Assist in developing sales initiatives and programs, supervise staff, manage sales contracts, coordinate meetings, maintain communication with clients, and fulfill organizational goals and service levels.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

Supervise and enhance sales operations at ASM Global's Palm Springs Convention Center, ensuring compliance with laws, budget management, and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES
General
  • Assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to sales in compliance with State and Federal law, and ASM Global policies and procedures.
  • Supervises staff in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including: interviewing and hiring; training; planning, assigning and directing work and; performance planning and concerns.
  • Develops and maintains effective policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensures accurate information is maintained and updated.
  • Attends, and oftentimes coordinates, appropriate planning, organization and other meetings in support of sales operations.
  • Works with city authorities, vendors and other contractors to ensure compliance with state, federal and city laws and regulations.
  • Assists with development of departmental budget and authorizes the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.
  • Maintains communication and effective relationships with booked and potential clients, internal clients, stakeholders and colleagues.
Sales
  • Assists in developing sales initiatives and programs to enhance productivity.
  • Assists in reviewing, negotiating and overseeing sales contracts.
  • Investigates, analyzes and resolves problems and concerns.
  • Assists in the completion of Performance Appraisals and Coaching and Counseling forms for Sales Managers
  • Produces weekly agenda for sales meetings listing topics of discussion for each meeting.
  • Assists in the planning of all Destination Education Events, Site Visits, FAM opportunities, etc. for the Sales Department
  • Acts as the main point of contact and decision-maker for the Sales Department in the absence of the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Other
  • Promotes and fulfills ASM Global goals and service levels.
  • Participates in safety programs to achieve safety goals.
  • Assists the department and organization with various projects and special assignments as needed.
  • Manages all messaging through the Watchfire/Ignite program for the East and West Marquees with the assistance of the Sales & Event Administrator
  • Manages the gathering of all client logos a minimum of 3 months prior to the start of the program for the PS Promise Program
  • Coordinates the production of the monthly PSCC Newsletter with the PSBOT PR Manager
  • Manages all messaging on the employee whiteboards with the assistance of the Event Coordinator
  • Performs twice weekly walkthrough of all meeting and public space to endure maintenance and cleanliness of the areas
  • Performs other assigned duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
A bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Marketing, Business Administration or closely related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience:
  • Three (3) years previous sales experience working in a hospitality related environment, preferably in a hotel or convention center environment is preferred.
  • Three (3) years visitor or event management experience in a hospitality environment which included: One (1) year supervisory experience and working knowledge of the principles of facility or event management, services and equipment
Technology
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with an automated sales/event booking system (Currently Momentus) is preferred.
License/Certificate:
Valid California Driver’s License

Certifications:
Industry Certifications as a meeting planner or meeting professional preferred.
Salary Range: $80,000 up to $125,000 DOE
