Job Overview -
We are looking for an Audience Engagement Strategist to focus on growing The Los Angeles Post social media accounts to expand our audience and engagement across various social platforms and media channels. This role involves curating engaging news content, managing social media accounts, crafting daily newsletters and analyzing performance to drive our brand’s online presence. The ideal candidate should be passionate about social media, creative, and data-driven, with a keen understanding of current trends, current news/events and best practices for newsletters and all social media platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across multiple channels.
- Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video, written).
- Update social media content across all channels with a clear understanding of the type of content that will resonate with the audience on each specific platform.
- Setting key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns, such as targets for a certain number of shares or likes and measuring performance growth against the KPIs.
- Keep an eye on social media trends related to news (local and national) and ensure that our accounts are capitalizing on the moment.
- Curate a daily newsletter and analyze data to optimize email campaigns to increase open rates, click through rates and foster long term engagement with our audience.
- Communicate effectively to senior management, editorial/content teams to manage reputation, identify content trends, and coordinate actions.
- Provide regular reports on social media performance
- Streamline processes to maximize efficiency and suggest integrating tools like Buffer, Hootsuite or other necessary tools if needed.
- Engaging with other news accounts, building reputation and brand voice on other profiles - establishing authority, trust and a voice for the brand
- Review and edit articles to ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence. Maintain high standards of grammar and formal writing.
- Create attention-grabbing and SEO-friendly headlines that drive engagement and clicks.
- Pitch story ideas and work with other members of the digital team to develop new angles and angles to existing stories.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 3-5 years experience as a social media manager or a similar role
- Email marketing or newsletter experience
- A bachelor’s degree in internet marketing, journalism or a related field
- Proven experience in creating social media strategies and growing account audiences/followers.
- Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text) and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and a good command of the English language.
- Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.
- Aptitude for crafting engaging content
- Combine creativity and analytical thinking to develop a unique and compelling brand voice on social media
- Positive attitude, detail-oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, within a fast paced environment.
- Decision-making skills - A self-starter who can manage multiple projects simultaneously where priorities continually change.
- Familiarity with digital marketing, SEO, and graphic design is preferred.
