SHORT DESCRIPTION

The AVP, Strategic Fraud Risk Mitigation will oversee a $6M monthly fraud mitigation operation, shaping strategies to enhance fraud risk processes and ensuring compliance while optimizing tools and solutions for a global client base.

The AVP, Strategic Fraud Risk Mitigation, will lead a comprehensive Fraud Risk Mitigation team with over $6M monthly Fraud Mitigation activities among Lifestyle product lines for client partnerships in excess of $1B. Create the strategy, development and implementation of solutions to support the fraud risk processes, tools, data solutions, projects and on-going future state enhancements. Lead strategic projects and initiatives including technology infrastructure, supporting new client implementations, maintain compliance and ensure the continuous optimization and measurement of fraud risk tools and solutions.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Client Program Management

  • Create, Lead, plan, manage and monitor strategic projects, initiatives and technology infrastructure, data driven decision intelligence projects supporting the Global Fraud Risk Ecosystem.
  • Work closely with internal and external business clients to develop strategic service solutions, and technology services to provide Assurant with a competitive advantage.
  • Assist business customers by advising them on the definition of business requirements and technology solutions to proactively and continuously mitigate Fraud.
  • Recommend changes to existing process and procedures and lead the implementation of changes.

Strategic/Process Improvements and Innovations

  • Ensure coordination of local and global fraud strategies that support fraud detection and prevention while creating operational efficiencies and delivering an innovative customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key senior and executive level contacts within the Global Assurant enterprise.
  • Work closely with cross-functional areas to provide direction and alternatives; addressing business systems challenges and new product/client opportunities (IT, Operations, Digital, Customer Experience, SIU, Legal, Marketing, Account Executives, etc.)
  • Work with legal department to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Initiate and lead legal reviews to support business process and product changes. Drive implementation of changes as needed based on legal findings.
  • Engage and support client implementations to ensure fraud prevention, detection and reporting is established at implementation and throughout the client relationship.
  • Help to elaborate the requirements needed for system development and participate in the analysis of alternatives and solution to simplify operational processes.

Fraud SME

  • Acts as and is able to add value to discussion/initiatives in a generalist capacity relating to all Operational levels of the business. Engages cross-functional subject matter experts as appropriate.
  • Maintains departmental presentations, RFI/RFP responses and supporting documentation.
  • Maintains involvement in the Claims Future State vision and ensures Fraud teams are involved as needed.
  • Maintains an understanding of current prevalent fraud trends, profiles and potential associated risks.
  • Ensures fraud strategies remain relevant and incorporate best in class fraud detection and prevention tools and processes.

Managing Team

  • Ability to lead resources as they engage in troubleshooting and problem solving. Identifies appropriate support channels to resolve issues and/or provides direction to move forward with new initiative. This includes the ability to escalate issues as needed.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the financial, contractual and regulatory requirements for all applicable products, programs and clients.
  • Demonstrates a competency in all Assurant core values, policies and procedures.
  • Coaches and develops subordinates to maximize individual performance, build future organization leadership, enhance teamwork, and strengthen support of the organization’s values and strategies. Develops and continuously monitors personal performance management plans.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Business, Finance, Data Analytics or related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in the fields of insurance fraud and/or financial crime, fraud risk strategy, finance, project management or a related fields.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing staff.
  • Experience working on multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of AI/ML digital intelligence, scoring models and fraud risk strategy.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Experience collaborating with Executive Management roles.
  • Experience with building new processes from the ground up, instilling a new mindset/paradigm shift for a team, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of the team’s efforts, people tools, practices, processes.
  • Proven ability as an effective and compelling communicator to technical and non-technical departments.
  • High level of intelligence, a quick study of complex problems and a well-organized approach to finding impactful solutions.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic skills, along with excellent communication skills are required. Ability to draw accurate connections and relationships between business needs and all functional support areas that are upstream and downstream.
  • Be able to lead and support projects to deliver desired results.
  • Six Sigma Certification a plus.
  • Experience with Insurance Fraud Risk Mitigation preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
