LOCATION
Camp location, primarily operational from late June through mid-August, with pre-season training in May and early June.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 20 years old with two years of undergraduate education or equivalent experience. Experience in education or child development is preferred, along with skills in social media and familiarity with Canva, Photoshop, and Premiere Rush.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Blogger and Extended Day Program Leader will create engaging camp experiences through social media, lead a team of counselors, ensure camper development and safety, and promote the camp toward families.
The Blogger and Extended Day (PMX) Program Leader is responsible for packaging and promoting the camp experience to enrolled families through a camp blog and various social media channels, updated throughout the day with photos, videos, and captions to offer families insight into their camper’s activities. In addition, this role involves overseeing, supporting, and coaching a team of counselors during aftercare programming as they lead campers through a pre-written curriculum where children engage in camp activities powered by play. While we provide the training, curriculum, and camp schedules, this role requires an enthusiastic and dedicated leader to organize the program, bringing the camp experience to life with unmatched energy.
Camper ages: 3-12 years old
Activities include: art, story time, sports, music, moon bounce, playground, STEM, aquatics, court and field sports, team building, snack, lunch, group games
Schedule:
- In-season (late June through mid August): 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday – Friday
- Pre-season (May and early June): select weekends for training and site preparation
- One day of pre-camp training takes place at Headfirst Headquarters in Washington, DC in June
Compensation: $18 / hour

Represent Headfirst for Families & Facility Partners
- Represent the Headfirst brand daily to families and school facility partners throughout the summer by being enthusiastic, hands-on, helpful, and in uniform
- Actively participate in our efforts to take care of our camp facility and lead your team to do the same

- Practice resiliency and arrive with a “How Can I Help?” mentality that puts camper experience and team success at the forefront through problem solving and trying new things
- Bring Our Brand to Life
- Become a brand master of Headfirst Companies and Headfirst Summer Camps
- Collect content on day-to-day activities while adhering to proper safety, privacy, and photography policies to give parents and families insight into the camp day and activities
- Upload posts to the blog site and Headfirst social media channels while creating captions and content for posts
- Capture the diversity of campers and programming activities on the blog and in social media posts
- Provide insight for enrolled families on programs, policies, and procedures through the blog

Develop Your Brand Skills
- Create varied forms of social media content – both written and multimedia – to engage enrolled and prospective camp families, as well as other stakeholders and online audiences
- Adhere to Headfirst Summer Camp brand guidelines while creating original content utilizing premade branded elements
- Assist in the development of print and online marketing materials as needed
- Express Headfirst Companies ethos, mission, and brand through consistent and compelling content updates
From 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Bring Camp to Life- Prepare a team of 6 to 12 counselors to implement pre-written curriculum to groups of up to 40 campers while finishing up blogger duties from the morning.
- Lead meetings for all staff, enforce active supervision and Headfirst policies, and lead by example in hands-on teaching of the program content
- Prepare and review materials bins for upcoming weeks, distributing materials to the appropriate areas to ensure projects are easily carried out by your counselor team
- Act as the first responder to any camper behavior management situations and support individual campers and counselors in implementing next steps towards positive behavior growth

Nurture Physical, Social & Emotional Safety
- Implement Headfirst’s safety protocols on supervision, bathrooms, emergency medications, and camper behavior management
- Work directly with campers to support them in their emotional, physical, and social development through hands-on exploration and coach your counselor team in growing their camper management skills
- Act as the primary first aid and safety provider for campers and staff after the regular camp day ends
- Communicate Proactively
- Anticipate curricular, facility, or schedule issues before they occur and proactively create solutions to run a smooth program
- Effectively log and manage any communications with Operations/PMX Coordinator about camper behavior, first aid, lost items, and other requests
About You:
About You: Must be at least 20 years old with at least (2) years at an undergraduate institution or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience:
- Majors in education and child development viewed favorably.
- Experience working in Canva, Photoshop, and Premiere Rush (or an equivalent video editing software) preferred.
- Experience with photography/videography with a DSLR camera preferred.
- Proficiency in social media, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to:
- Work around small children including, sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs for the full day.
- Work in hot and outdoor environments while actively supervising campers and participating in dynamic activities for extended periods of time.
- Lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Committed to adhering to the Cell-Phone Free policy, powering down and putting away cell phones in a locked pouch for the duration of your shift.
- Required Certification
- First Aid & CPR Certification, or the ability to complete these prior to May 30, 2025.
