Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually (depending on experience)
Position Type: Full-Time
We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Bookkeeper to join our accounting department. The individual will play a key role in managing our day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end reporting, and reconciliations. You will also work closely with our CEO, payroll coordinator, and other team members to ensure the smooth running of our financial processes. This is an in-office position at our headquarters in Louisville, KY, where you will work closely with a small, dedicated team to maintain accurate financial records.
Bookkeeper Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee and manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Follow up on overdue accounts, and manage collections as needed.
Month-End Reporting & Reconciliations:
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger.
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accounts are accurate and balanced.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for management review and decision-making.
General Accounting Support:
- Process journal entries and assist with other general accounting functions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and maintain accurate financial records.
- Provide support to the fractional accountant and assist with financial analysis as required.
Human Resources Support:
- Assist with HR-related tasks, including basic benefits administration and contractor documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Help maintain accurate employee and contractor records for payroll and tax purposes.
Bookkeeper Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks).
- Strong Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Bookkeeper Education & Experience Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Experience working in a small team environment is a plus.
