QUALIFICATIONS
College and Graduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented, organized, able to work independently, and proficient with social media platforms and Microsoft Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with media and communication tasks, including writing press releases and maintaining media contact lists; initiate local community outreach; design and execute social media campaigns; manage database records of communications and marketing efforts; and volunteer at the Dance event if over 21.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
Intern for Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, focusing on promoting the 28th Annual LGBTQ+ Dance through social media outreach, marketing initiatives, and community engagement.
Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is dedicated to preventing environmental causes of breast cancer through community education, research advocacy, and changes to public policy. Our fundraising events and educational outreach allow us to continue to work towards this goal. Our interns will assist with building and promoting special events and projects for the organization. This internship involves frequent communication with Cheryl Osimo, Executive Director. Your work will specifically pertain to the 28th Annual LGBTQ+ Dance.
SOCIAL MEDIA & OUTREACH INTERNSHIP
The flexibility of this internship is substantial given its work from home nature. Phone and internet will be the primary communication tools for assignments. Interns must commit to at least 15-20 morning hours per week.
Responsibilities include:
Media & Communication:
- Writing, proofing and distributing press releases, calendar listings, letters, and event posters to news media outlets, including print and online newspaper, radio, television, magazines, websites, college groups/media. This includes finding up-to-date contact information for these connections.
- Regularly communicate and present project progress with the team.
Marketing & Outreach:
- Initiating contact with local community businesses and individuals to encourage community sponsorship and individual or team event participation.
- Design social media outreach campaign and calendar
- Social media outreach (Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) to past registrants and potential future registrants.
Administrative:
- Database building, management, and maintenance to ensure accurate and thorough records of progress in communications and marketing responsibilities.
- If you are 21 or over, we would like you to attend the Dance at Club Café in Boston, MA in October, 2025 as a pro-bono volunteer
Qualifications: College and Graduate students with minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with competing deadlines.
- Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media outlets. Prior experience with social media campaigns is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
Compensation: We are willing to work with institutions to offer student academic credit. Though, as an intern for our small nonprofit, that is all.
Start dates and durations are negotiable.
