Job Summary
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Branch Executive Director at YMCA of Greater Seattle stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization within the community. The Branch Executive Director oversees the operation of the Y and participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, and collaboration with community stakeholders.

The branch executive is responsible for the successful management of the day-to-day operations of a branch in one of the largest YMCAs in the United States. The position is also responsible for membership engagement, program delivery, fiscal management, financial development, branch advisory council development, community outreach, and diversity, inclusion, and equity culture building for the service area in conjunction with the District Executive and Centers of Excellence.

Hiring Range: $94,000 - $111,000/annually DOE

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains diverse advisory councils that actively support the Y’s goals and strategic plans. Recruits, selects, and develops diverse volunteers for the branch board. Clarifies and reinforces the division of roles and responsibilities between corporate boards, management or advisory boards, staff, and general volunteers.
  • Builds bridges within the community so that all segments of society have access to the Y.
  • Represents and promotes the Y in the local communities and develops positive, effective working relationships with branch advisory council, community organizations, school district, businesses and governmental agencies in service delivery areas.
  • Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, and community leaders) develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Manages the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Provides leadership and direction to assigned branch by coaching and providing overall direction, performance management, and development to the branch staff and volunteers.
  • In partnership with Centers of Excellence and district executive, develop and direct the operational growth of assigned branch through membership growth, member experience including member/participant recruitment, retention and program expansion.
  • Oversees program delivery at branch to assure high quality results, which support branch, district and association mission, goals and strategies.
  • Partners with all Centers of Excellence and district executive to ensure consistent safety and high quality of programs in areas including marketing, facility maintenance, and health.
  • Serves as a member of assigned Association, branch groups and committees to supports the overall objectives of the Association.

Code of Conduct for Applicants
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in business administration, human services or related field. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
  • Seven or more years of experience in a variety of YMCA operations or related activities, including program development, operations and growth, financial development, budgeting and financial management, membership, volunteer development and staff management.
  • Proven successful experience with board development, financial development and broadening an organization’s reach into underserved communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborations with diverse organizations.
  • Ability to develop a strategy and implement through change management.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience in, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
