Reports To: Director of Marketing

INDIGO has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Account Manager in the B2B Environmental Testing market. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing a strategy to help grow INDIGO’s engagement with existing environmental customers and build relationships with new ones. This role will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and developing mutually beneficial relationships with customers in Water Reuse, Government Environmental Research, and Academic Environmental Research settings who can benefit from INDIGO’s cell-based bioassays for research, monitoring, and regulatory compliance applications.
Compensation will consist of a base salary, commission structure that rewards demonstrated sales growth, paid vacation, holidays, travel reimbursement, paid healthcare, and 401K among other benefits.

Essential Duties:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for INDIGO’s environmental customers
  • Call on existing and new customer accounts (by email, phone, and in-person) to identify customer needs, build and nurture relationships, and facilitate orders for INDIGO’s environmental products and services
  • Participate in the development and refinement of the annual strategic sales and marketing plan for INDIGO’s environmental offerings
  • Conduct market research to identify overall opportunities within key environmental market segments
  • Identify and develop channels to effectively engage with the environmental monitoring market through outreach strategies
  • Provide insight to help guide the development of new products and services and update existing ones
  • Document engagements and communications with contacts using CRM
  • Collaborate closely with INDIGO’s Marketing Team to identify prospects and develop presentations, flyers, webinars, and other communication tools to support efforts
  • Work with INDIGO’s Science Team as needed to schedule meetings and presentations for prospective and current clients and collaborate on product development
  • Monitor the market for competing products, services, and technologies and report findings to leadership
  • Prepare regular reports for leadership on environmental business development activities and outcomes
Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully identify, engage, and nurture client relationships from prospect identification through the sales process
  • Ability to communicate scientific information in a clear, effective manner
  • Extensive CRM experience (HubSpot experience preferred but not required)
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects with frequently adjusted priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Work closely with others as part of a collaborative team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in B2B business development/sales in environmental testing or a related market
  • Demonstrated experience in key environmental testing/research market segments (e.g., academia, analytical testing laboratories, state/federal government agencies, water reuse/recycling)
  • Established contacts within the environmental testing market preferred
  • Familiarity with applicable environmental regulations (e.g., SDWA, UCMR, TSCA, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel (up to 50% of the time) to client visits, trade shows/conferences, etc.
