Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Director with a strong background in EdTech services sales. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the growth of our EdTech services across content and technology services, identifying new business opportunities, and building strategic partnerships. This role requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record in sales, exceptional communication skills, a robust network and a deep understanding of the EdTech and education publishing industry. Specialization in K12, Higher Ed and Workforce Development vertical is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy and Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including market expansion and strategic partnerships.
- Lead the sales team in developing and executing effective sales plans, including prospecting, lead generation, and closing deals.
Market Research and Analysis
- With support from our research team- identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs in the EdTech sector. Analyze market data to develop insights and recommendations for product development and sales strategies.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Industry Executives, Educational Institutions and Industry partners
- Negotiate and close high-value contracts with clients and partners.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the sales support team, providing guidance and support to achieve individual and team goals.
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented sales culture within the team.
Performance Monitoring:
- Track and report on sales performance metrics, providing regular updates to senior management.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize sales processes and performance.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Marketing, Account management, Technology and Content development teams, Product development, and Customer Success teams to ensure alignment of business development efforts with overall company goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop compelling sales presentations, proposals, and marketing materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development and sales, with a focus on EdTech services.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of the EdTech industry, including trends, technologies, and key players.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
