The Business Development Manager will oversee revenue growth in the mid-Atlantic region, focusing on direct sales, team leadership, and building lasting client relationships.
Job Purpose & Goal:
The Business Development Manager at Alleghany will oversee and grow revenue in the mid-Atlantic region through sales and operations initiatives. The role involves establishing a solid client base, meeting revenue targets, and building a team of sales professionals. Initial focus will be on direct sales and market entry, transitioning into a leadership role with direct reports involving recruitment, training, and team development.
Functions & Responsibilities:
•Develop and implement a business development strategy to achieve revenue goals in the region.
•Conduct market research to identify opportunities, trends, and competition. Provide insights to inform regional strategy.
•Identify and cultivate new business opportunities to expand Alleghany’s footprint across the mid-Atlantic states.
•Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, potential partners, industry influencers, and decision-makers to expand the company’s network and visibility.
•Recruit, hire, and manage a team of account executives to support regional growth and customer engagement.
•Provide mentorship and training to the sales team, fostering their professional development and ensuring high performance
•Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing, finance, and operations, to align strategies and support business objectives.
•Maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs and ensuring company solutions are well-aligned.
•Prepare and present regular progress reports, including key performance indicators, sales pipeline updates, and future opportunities.
•Represent the company at regional industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and build the company’s presence in the new market.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:
•Minimum 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, with a track record of success in driving growth in new markets or regions.
•Proven experience in agriculture and a strong understanding of the regional market dynamics.
•Exceptional skills in sales, negotiation, and closing high-value deals. Ability to articulate the value proposition and tailor the pitch to the client’s specific needs.
•Ability to cultivate relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders in the region, leveraging those relationships to drive business.
•Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze market data, identify opportunities, and develop long-term strategies for growth.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to senior executives, clients, and stakeholders effectively.
•Highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership and a proven ability to work independently and within a team.
•Willingness to travel within the region as needed to meet with clients, partners, and industry leaders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
