Seeking a high-energy Business Development Manager to manage Target account in the Pet Sales division, focusing on sales growth and strategic marketing initiatives.
Description
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Pet Sales division to manage the Target account. We are looking for high energy and self-motivated candidates who are ready to take their next career step in outside sales/large account management. This role is a home-office based field sales position, with the candidate preferably located in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. We are willing to consider candidates outside of the Minneapolis and St. Paul area so long as they possess the desired skill set and live near a major metropolitan airport (and are willing to travel a bit more).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and grow distribution through strategic sales efforts including insights development and category management
- Implement the sales planning process across the Central portfolio of brands for Target
- Execute account specific programs designed to achieve profitable sales volume, optimal distribution, competitive retail pricing for both brick & mortar and e-commerce
- Implement strategic marketing plans that maximize profitable sales growth
- Participate and provide input in the areas of new product development, business planning, customer marketing, customer service and KPI tracking
- Work collaboratively with Central’s Business Unit demand planners to provide accurate and timely sales forecasts across the Central portfolio
- Lead events including billing efficiencies, trade spending, promotional tracking and ROI analysis to support profitability growth
- Developing and executing Omnichannel strategies in conjunction with Central’s E-commerce team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in managing and growing large retail accounts; high volume product sales experience required along with the ability to develop and expand digital penetration
- Approaches business cases with a strong sense of curiosity and eagerness to embrace new ideas
- Creative problem solving with the ability to analyze information objectively, assess risks and build innovative solutions to business problems
- Demonstrated strategic planning and strong negotiation skills
- Understanding of and utilization of omnichannel KPI’s (Gross Sales, Margins, Gross to Net, ROI, GMROI, Conversion Rate, ROAS)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a broad audience
- Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills and competent utilizing the following data, insights and analytics platforms; Nielsen IQ, Profitero, Numerator, Panel
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- BS/BA Degree in a business discipline
- 5+ years of professional sales experience, with a proven track record of success at the Business Development level; a minimum of 8 years professional sales experience at the Senior Business Development level
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Travel required, approximately 15% with frequent overnight trips; frequent car and airline travel; hotel sleep accommodations.
- Home office conditions when not actively traveling in region. Variation in work hours is necessary due to employee and customer schedules, special projects, deadlines and other business activities. Meet with VP in Minneapolis office once a month.
