Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service in Western’s Campus Shop and offer phone or online assistance to students and staff in an ever-changing, dynamic retail setting. Hours may increase during registration and orientation periods and during the first two weeks of the semester start date.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
  • Perform office functions which may include but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
  • Complete all required College training and be responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

  • In-Person & eCampus Customer Support - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Provide a high level of customer service by greeting walk-in customers and responding to questions about products and purchases.
    • Provide textbook ordering support in person and over the phone using the eCampus online bookstore.
    • Provide eCampus technical support and troubleshooting
    • Assist with campus events including student registration and orientation and eCampus training sessions
    • Direct work and assist in the training of new employees and work studies
  • Cashiering, Merchandising, & Store Promotions - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Perform accurate and efficient retail sales activities.
    • Operate cash register to process payments and issue refunds or exchanges as necessary.
    • Perform tasks related to store opening and closing
    • Stock and restock shelves.
    • Ensue product availability on the webstore
    • Create marketing materials for sales and promotions including trendy marketing displays.
    • Assist with special branded clothing requests
    • Manage Campus Shop social media platforms
    • Maintain appearance of sales floor by organizing, dusting, and straightening of merchandise on shelves.
    • Direct work and assist in the training of new employees and work studies
  • Inventory & Purchasing Functions - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
    • Act as main purchasing contact and order all giftware, supplies and apparel
    • Creates purchase orders, sets retail prices, and reconcile shipments with original purchases orders.
    • Transmit invoices to accounts payable.
    • Receive and process merchandise shipments and deliveries.
    • Maintain inventories for apparel, giftware and school supplies
    • Analyze sales data and research trends to ensure the store has the latest products
    • Maintain relationships with various vendors to maximize cost saving for the customer and store.
    • Perform end-of-year physical inventory and ensure accurate documents.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Graduate or GED Recipient

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One-year Retail or Customer Service experience or Computer skills, operate cash register, read emails and type responses. (i.e.: MS Word, Excel, Outlook) OR combination of experience

Special Instructions/About Western

This position reports to: Campus Shop & eCampus Manager

Starting hourly salary range based on education and experience: $19.98 - $24.11

This non-benefit eligible position would be 20-24 hours/week. Hours may increase during registration and orientation periods and during the first two weeks of the semester start dates.
