SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Canine Fitness Manager leads the Canine Fitness Program, promoting physical fitness and behavioral resilience in dogs training to be service animals while overseeing team management and program development.
The Canine Fitness Manager oversees and implements the Canine Fitness Program to build behavioral resilience, adaptability, and physical fitness in dogs training to become guide and service animals. This role leads a team of fitness coaches and volunteers, ensuring exercises promote mental stability and physical conditioning. The manager fosters a collaborative environment, promoting continuous improvement and aligning program success with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, train, and motivate fitness coaches and volunteers, ensuring positive, safe, and effective training methods.
- Provide ongoing training and professional development to team members, ensuring best practices in canine fitness.
- Offer constructive feedback, address performance gaps, and celebrate achievements, fostering team growth.
Program Development & Oversight:
- Design and oversee a multi-phase fitness curriculum focused on behavioral resilience, proprioception, and adaptability.
- Manage program schedules and allocate resources effectively to ensure the seamless progression of fitness phases.
- Maintain and utilize fitness equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and effectiveness.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and HR, to align on events, training, and goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication.
Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback and observation, making necessary adjustments to maintain excellence.
- Stay informed on trends in canine fitness and rehabilitation, integrating innovative techniques into the program.
Decision-Making & Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with training activities, ensuring a safe environment for dogs and staff.
- Resolve challenges promptly, minimizing disruptions to the training schedule.
Budget & Resource Management:
- Oversee the use and maintenance of fitness equipment, ensuring adherence to budget constraints.
- Track expenses and allocate resources efficiently without compromising program quality.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage clients and volunteers to ensure the program meets expectations, adapting as needed based on feedback.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Canine Fitness and Rehabilitation (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in canine fitness training, working dogs, canine sports, or service dogs.
- BS/BA in animal behavior, animal science, or a related field, or veterinary technician certification.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software for data tracking and communication.
