Description:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will serve as a key member of EHC’s leadership team. The CMO will play an instrumental role in EHC’s continued growth transformation and will be charged with driving the marketing strategy across all aspects of the organization. This leader will utilize data-driven insights that drive growth, and design strategies and processes to carry out Emory’s vision in a multi-channel world. The CMO will play a crucial role in shaping EHC’s future by creating a strong brand presence, driving patient engagement, and delivering meaningful connections between the organization and its diverse communities. Through innovative marketing strategies, the CMO will help build patient trust, expand access to care, and contribute to the organization’s overall growth and success.


The CMO will be of the highest personal character and integrity; a transparent and collaborative partner who will work with the leaders to advance the organization. They will provide reliable, consistent, and understandable measurement of the return on investment of the various marketing efforts. It is expected that this individual will stay abreast of the healthcare market’s conditions, trends, and developments to provide astute guidance and recommendations for meeting changing marketplace demands.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading all marketing strategies that drive patient acquisition, brand development, and community engagement. The CMO will align marketing efforts with Emory Healthcare’s mission to deliver innovative, patient-centered care.
  • Oversee the creation, development, and implementation of integrated marketing and branding programs to drive awareness and demand for the core missions of patient care, education, research, innovation, and philanthropy.
  • Lead the development of a brand strategy that identifies EHC as an innovative, high impact organization, and capitalizes upon opportunities to promote the EHC brand through its trustees, employees, patients, social media, website, and all communications and marketing.
  • Position the healthcare system as a leader in innovative, high-quality, patient-centered care; identify growth opportunities, and drive brand differentiation in highly competitive healthcare markets.
  • Design and implement marketing campaigns to attract new patients and improve patient retention across multiple service lines, including specialty care, primary care, and urgent care services.
  • Lead the organization’s internal culture change to build an innovative, high impact institutional culture, developing inspiring and motivational programs that are focused upon telling Emory’s story consistently across the employee base as well as through physician, patient, customer, and vendor communications.
  • Advance Emory’s use of technology and data analytics and management to better understand the voice of the customer and the patient journey, examining and identifying how customers research and select healthcare providers.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives, leveraging digital marketing, telemedicine platforms, and AI-driven personalization to enhance the patient experience.
  • Design strategy to create a new pipeline to attract the best and most qualified Team Member.
  • Provide continuing leadership and direction in the selection, recruitment, and development of a high performing marketing team while ensuring role and goal clarity, providing development and coaching, serving as an advocate for employees, providing feedback, as well as ensuring accountability.
  • Act as a strong partner to the CEO, working collaboratively with senior leaders, physicians, and other health system staff to monitor effectiveness of marketing efforts.
  • Use advanced analytics, patient feedback, and market research to understand patient needs and trends, driving informed marketing decisions.
  • Develop and utilize patient segmentation models to create targeted outreach for various healthcare services, improving outcomes and satisfaction.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 10 years of executive level marketing experience within a complex organization that is known for its excellence and effectiveness in consumer driven branding, strategy, and communication. BA in Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a Related Field required. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.


Leadership

  • Direct or indirect leadership of at least 20 marketing professionals.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and engage with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate teams under pressure and high stress situations.
  • Record of rapidly coaching employees to higher levels and new opportunities.

Data Analysis

  • Experience developing strategies to collect, analyze, and develop insights from internal and external data sources.
  • Expertise in using data analytics, market research, and consumer insights to inform decision-making and measure campaign effectiveness.

Digital Marketing/Marketing Technologies

  • Oversee the digital marketing landscape, optimizing online presence and engagement.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to maximize reach and audience interaction.
  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives, CRM systems, and using the latest marketing technologies.

Market Research

  • Experience identifying research to positively increase business.
  • Understand different research methodologies and deploy appropriate methodologies to capture insights to inform business strategies.

Strategic

  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to amplify marketing efforts and extend brand reach.
  • Deep commitment to improving patient care and outcomes through marketing strategies that focus on patient/customer experience, access, and engagement.

Brand Management

  • Track record of building and maintaining brands at excellence.
  • Proven track record of leading successful branding and marketing strategies within complex, multi-service industries.
