The Commercial and Marketing Manager will oversee sales strategies, contract negotiations, and marketing initiatives to drive profitability and brand awareness for TMG Operating LLC, a leader in technology within the Oil industry.
TMG Operating LLC is in Carmel, IN, and is the management company for multiple service companies located primarily in Midland Texas. This position will be based in the Carmel, IN office. We are a leader in technology, developing cutting-edge sensors, and automation control systems that help to reduce costs and increase safety in our clients' operations. Our operations are rapidly expanding to include innovative technologies and automation in the Oil industry. The original company began in 2008 and initially manufactured original equipment for various industries. Beginning in 2016, our business shifted to focus on providing services in the Oil & Gas Industry.
Job Summary:
The Commercial and Marketing Manager is a combined position within our companies. The commercial manager’s role is the main focus of the Commercial and Marketing Manager position. The commercial manager’s role will focus on the overall business deals and profitability, including sales strategies, contract negotiations, quotes, and customer relationships. The marketing manager’s role will focus on promoting a company's products or services through advertising, branding, and market research to generate leads and increase sales through the "promotion" side. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced commercial and marketing manager to help us with our overall sales and marketing efforts. You will be an integral part of the development and execution of marketing plans to reach targets, from brand awareness to product promotion. You will work directly with the sales team, operations, and the CEO to assist them with the creation of quotes, negotiations, and marketing needs for our companies. You should be a competent professional able to grasp consumer behavior trends and generate creative ideas while securing business deals, managing pricing, and ensuring profitable contracts. You should also be well-versed in sales and specialized marketing concepts, principles, and tactics.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Trains new staff in the department.
- Oversee the department's daily workflow.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees per company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- In the commercial manager’s role, the focus is on the overall business deals and profitability, including sales strategies, contract negotiations, quotes, and customer relationships.
- In the marketing manager’s role, the primarily focuses on promoting a company's products or services through advertising, branding, and market research to generate leads and increase sales through the "promotion" side.
- Based on assessment, draft and propose communications campaigns, which may include social and online media, print media, direct mail, and other multimedia.
- Presents design ideas and recommendations to sales managers, leadership, or General Managers over operations.
- Creates and coordinates multimedia packages.
- Composes draft speeches for Leadership and assists with finalizing messages.
- Schedules and develops scripts and production for events and presentations.
- Evaluate the success of campaigns when completed and report analysis to leadership.
- Collaborates, participates in and coordinates promotional activities or trade shows.
- Attends trade shows, business events, community fairs and staffs the company booth.
- Identifies target customers and markets.
- Collects and maintains sales records required to track, review, and modify performance of marketing initiatives.
- Forecasts and analyzes sales trends, marketing strategies, and product performance; prepares and presents reports summarizing information; makes recommendations based on analysis to leadership.
- Develops and distributes materials related to sales, training, and marketing.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative marketing campaigns.
- Assist in outbound or inbound marketing activities by demonstrating expertise in various areas (content development and optimization, advertising, events planning, etc.).
- Establish contacts with external vendors to execute promotional events and campaigns.
- Collaborate with sales and other professionals to coordinate brand awareness and marketing efforts.
- Plan and execute initiatives to reach the target audience through appropriate channels (social media, e-mail, TV, etc.)
- Assist in analyzing marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic, etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies.
- Undertake individual tasks of a marketing plan.
- Conducts market research, sales forecasting, and strategic planning to assess and ensure the sale and profitability of products.
- Conduct pricing research and analysis to ensure competitive product and service pricing.
- Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the market; identifies needs for new products and services and makes recommendations to leadership.
- Collaborates in the development of new products to fully understand products, and develop branding messages, and communication needs.
- Composes, develops, evaluates, and conducts training on marketing activities, strategies, and policies.
- Develop and assist with pricing and sales strategies.
- Sales quote process – pricing, planning, tracking, strategy, etc.
- Securing business deals, managing pricing, and ensuring profitable contracts with excellent customer negotiations skills.
- Assist in creating and implementing margins.
- CRM project management and implementation.
- Negotiate contracts for services needed to execute a marketing strategy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrable experience in marketing data analytics and tools.
- Solid computer skills, including MS Office, marketing software (Adobe Creative Suite & CRM), and applications (Web analytics, Google Adwords etc.).
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web development tools (e.g. Dreamweaver) desired.
- Commercial awareness partnered with a creative mind.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least three years of experience in a related field (Oil & Gas, Automation) is preferred.
- Three years of related experience writing and editing projects; a portfolio of relevant previous projects is highly preferred.
- Three+ years of related experience in business, promotional sales, customer service, or related field preferred.
- General understanding of accounting/finance methodology.
- Project management and implementation experience.
- Sales quote process experience– pricing, planning, tracking, strategy, etc.
- Creating and implementing margin experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel for business.
