SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Communications Specialist will create and coordinate communication materials to promote HealthTrust's programs and services, ensuring content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with the organization's mission and vision.

Overview
The Communications Specialist is responsible for writing, editing and/or reviewing communications materials to make sure they reflect the mission, vision and values of HealthTrust. In so doing, this individual works closely with all other teams at HealthTrust and with HealthTrust’s vendor partners to ensure the information provided to Member Groups, Covered Individuals, Wellness Coordinators and the public is accurate, clearly written, and the tone and content engages and appropriately addresses each audience. Communication materials include but are not limited to website content, emails, bulk messages, newsletters, flyers, brochures, video scripts, and PowerPoint presentations.

The Communication Specialist is responsible for maximizing the visibility of HealthTrust’s programs and services with Member Groups, Covered Individuals, and the general public. This position is responsible for the creation of informational material for all related programs and services with the goal of educating Member Groups and Covered Individuals and driving engagement. This position supports the Well-Being Manager and all HealthTrust staff in editing, writing and coordinating the development and production of promotional, informational, and educational publications and online media.

The position also provides content updates to the websites and performs quality assurance reviews on website content and functionality.

Responsibilities

.1. Clearly articulate a compelling and powerful value proposition to Member Groups across all HealthTrust communication channels.

2. Develop positioning strategy, messaging, competitive differentiation, and equip the Benefit Services team with engaging product and services portfolio messaging.

3. Create, communicate, and drive marketing communications strategy with senior Leadership and external partners.

4. Collaborate directly with HealthTrust Leadership and various departments to develop content strategy and produce clear, relevant copy for website pages, promotional materials, brochures, flyers, video scripts, email blasts, and other informational materials including advertisements, publications and online communication to promote HealthTrust plans, services, programs, and website.

5. Write, edit, and proofread HealthTrust communications. Become the authority on questions related to grammar, punctuation, spelling, tone, voice, wording, and other factors that contribute to the clarity, accuracy and content strategy. Coordinate the HIPAA review and other approval processes.

6. Make sure all promotional communications created by the Benefit Services, Well-Being, and Engagement teams adhere to the procedures and guidelines established in the HealthTrust Writer’s Guidelines.

7. Collaborate with Well-Being Manager and Engagement Coordinator on communication projects that drive engagement. Serve as key team member on other special projects, lending content strategy and producing follow-through communications.

8. Work directly with HealthTrust staff, Member Groups and Covered Individuals through interviews to gather content for promotional opportunities (e.g., BA Spotlight, Board Member spotlight, Biography sheets).

9. Work closely with the Reporting and Data Department to ensure website content is updated as needed, documents and calendar events are posted as required, and features and content are regularly reviewed and enhanced to drive engagement.

10. Stay up to date on current communication and marketing trends related to benefits, health and well-being.

11. Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, business with a marketing focus, journalism, or related field, supplemented by coursework in web copywriting and copyediting. Prior work experience of 3-5 years of experience in writing and editing for print and electronic media, including websites.

Experience in employee benefits and insurance products preferred. The position requires a high level of initiative, critical thinking, and organizational abilities Communication — ability to tailor communications with authority; effectively develop and deliver presentations with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strategic Thinking — ability to systematically approach organization’s objectives and market challenges and creatively match to available solution paths; brainstorm with other team members.
