Communication Specialist Senior
LOCATION
Tucson Medical Center, including TMC Foundation and TMCOne, and the System’s outlying facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of five years in communication or marketing; healthcare experience is a plus.

Facilitate communication processes, develop community relationships, represent the organization at meetings, create and disseminate information about TMC Health initiatives, manage media requests, lead social media efforts, and ensure adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
Support internal and external projects at TMC Health by managing communications, social media initiatives, and editorial direction for publications and reports.
SUMMARY:
Facilitates communications processes to support internal and external projects and programs of TMC Health, including Tucson Medical Center (TMC), TMC Foundation and TMCOne and the System’s outlying facilities. Provides editorial direction for publications and reports. Advances social media and web initiatives, including writing, creative direction and content management for internal and external websites.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops and maintains relationships with the community, TMC Health Staff and medical staff.
Represents the System and serves as the communication resource and liaison at key meetings and events.
Creates and disseminates information about TMC Health initiatives and programs through a variety of mechanisms, to include internal and external publications, presentations, newsletters, handbooks, catalogs, brochures, blogs, flyers and online posts. Determines the relevant audience and how to adapt information for that audience.
Determines the appropriateness of media requests for information and formulates the content, timing and manner of media releases in conformance with the hospital and medical code of ethics.
Works with business development, finance, and other key organizational areas to evaluate and grow services lines to facilitate market growth.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to craft communications, publications and other content to share with media and other platforms.
Lead the social media team for the outlying communities and their facilities, comprising the marketing teams at Benson Hospital and Northern Cochise County Hospital.
Plans layout of printed pieces, arranging sequence of topics and placement of artwork; directs the preparation and publication of sales bulletins, product information brochures and similar materials.
Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate demeanor and interaction with all patients, visitors, and staff.
Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMC Health’s values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
Adheres to TMC Health’s organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of communication or marketing experience; healthcare experience a plus.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of marketing concepts and community resources.
- Knowledge of media resources and contacts.
- Skill in writing press releases and program materials to advertise, explain and communicate a variety of topics.
- Skill with online marketing, social media management, and online search optimization.
- Knowledge, and access to, social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter) and TikTok.
- Ability to manage content within internal and external websites.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
