Main Purpose of Job

This position, which functions as a Communications and Resource Coordinator, is responsible for the overall management of Maryland’s Commitment to Veterans (MCV) communications and production of marketing programs. This position develops and maintains an annual communications strategic plan for the marketing of all MCV initiatives. This position develops and disseminates clearly written, well-designed communication tools in a variety of formats, such as web content, marketing materials, training materials, etc. geared toward engagement, outreach and education.

In addition, this position manages a regional territory within Maryland to ensure SMVF the provisions of cost-free access to behavioral health care (mental health and substance use) and wraparound services. This position advocates for SMVF through representation on regional boards and committees while working in collaboration with federal, state, and community agencies/ organizations, nonprofits, behavioral health service providers, and medical facilities to coordinate and remain aware of available behavioral health and support services. This position also conducts training for crisis intervention teams in their regional territory which seeks to utilize military culturally competent techniques when responding to crisis calls involving SMVF.

This position is eligible for telework. This is subject to change as necessitated by operations and customer focused demands.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience developing and implementing data collection systems and tools.
  • Experience aggregating data in support of grant submission and program expansion.
  • Experience tracking and analyzing metrics, trends and improvement measures.
  • Experience data analysis and creating various reports with data visualizations.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Keen attention to detail when proofreading, copy editing and fact checking.
  • Experience working for or with the military and veteran-connected organizations.
  • Reside in one of the following Maryland Counties: Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Washington.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
