Communications Coordinator
LOCATION
Greater Boston area, in-office three days a week with mandatory Wednesday attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
College degree preferred, experience in hospitality/tourism marketing, communications, and public relations is a plus, excellent communication and organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage media relations, document earned media, maintain the Meet Boston Press Room, assist in media kit development, collaborate on neighborhood videos, support partnership initiatives, and provide administrative support to the communication team.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Communications Coordinator will support public relations and media initiatives to promote Greater Boston as a visitor destination while fostering equity and inclusion in the travel sector.
The Meet Boston Communications Coordinator will assist and support a full complement of public relations, media and communications initiatives that align with Meet Boston’s mission and value proposition. Meet Boston’s essential goal is to promote the Greater Boston region as a visitor destination, increasing tourism to this dynamic and diverse region, while also serving as a key conduit in elevating community voices and growing equity and inclusion within the travel and tourism sector.
The Communications Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Strategic Communications and works closely with the Communications Team, serving as a critical player in the development of a robust communications program to increase brand awareness of the Greater Boston area in all key target markets through earned media strategies, media hosting, and the development of media-facing assets. The Communications Coordinator works closely with Meet Boston’s partnership and marketing teams to ensure that messaging is consistent, earned media results are recorded, and that marketing campaigns are conducted in concert with the value proposition of the Meet Boston mission and vision.
Requirements:- College degree preferred but not required
- Experience in hospitality/tourism marketing, communications and public relations is a plus
- Prior customer service and sales experience a plus
- Knowledge of marketing and communication operations and best practices
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong Organizational, collaboration, and time management skills
- Any additional training and certification in marketing and/or communications will be considered an advantage
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Adobe Create Suite products preferred
- Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently and balance work-life and job responsibilities
- Prior PR or marketing agency experience preferred
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage department reporting including newsclip coverage (both industry-related and earned media), timely partner communications, and monthly recaps to include highlights from all agency partners.
- In conjunction with Partnership Department, ensure that all earned media generated by Meet Boston is documented in the CRM system with appropriate partner tags and themes.
- Spearhead “What’s New” document, including all updates and intake from colleagues on what should be added; updates to the comprehensive document to be done monthly.
- Work with communications and marketing team on maintenance of the Meet Boston Press Room, including enhanced content and design elements, uploading of What’s New, and keeping the What’s New digital content themes updated.
- Handle media relations inbox, screen content and forward requests to appropriate team members.
- Handle asset requests that come through Meet Boston Digital Asset Management module and forward requests to appropriate team members.
- Serve as an integral player in facilitating and processing of media FAM lead requests; leading in the development and logistical coordination of media itineraries as well as the development of welcome kits and ensuring delivery to host hotels.
- Collaborate with all Meet Boston Departments to ensure that the Communications Team is meeting the needs and deadlines required by our colleagues.
- Assist in developing primary and secondary media kits, fact sheets, and any press materials that align with earned media initiatives and storytelling pillars.
- Assist Partnership Department with retention, new member recruitment and cooperative partnership fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with Community Engagement Liaison and VP of Strategic Communications to create compelling neighborhood videos.
- Assist Special Events in developing media strategy for sharing host of Meet Boston neighborhood event sponsorship.
- Provide administrative support to VP of Strategic Communications and Director of Communications.
Job Type
- Full-time, Monday to Friday; some weekend and evening work required
- Meet Boston requires employees to be in the office 3 days/week with Wednesday mandatory. Office hours are 8:30am – 5pm.
