Job description

Feonix - Mobility Rising is an innovative nonprofit that seeks to solve transportation challenges for underserved populations, including veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and families living in poverty. Feonix accomplishes this goal by working with local organizational leaders and transportation options and connecting them into Transportation Assistance Hubs, which provide a one-stop shop for available mobility options, a solution termed Mobility as a Service (MaaS). Feonix also operates non-emergency medical transportation, micro-transit services, and a fleet of volunteer drivers.

We are seeking an innovative, strategic leader to join our team as Communications Manager. This role will oversee and lead all communications involving the organization including the development and implementation of a communications strategy and a broad and diverse range of outreach initiatives. This position will have a strong focus on building and sustaining Feonix – Mobility Rising’s reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

The Communications Manager will collaborate with the internal Feonix team, as well as contractors, media, external partners and sponsors. As a part of our organization, you’ll wear many hats and have the opportunity to help grow and shape the future of our organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Communications Strategy, Vision and Leadership:

● Develop and implement an integrated, organization wide strategic communications plan to broaden awareness of Feonix’s mission in the nonprofit sector and strengthen Feonix’s brand identity across key stakeholder audiences.

● Create and deploy a brand/marketing/public relations strategy that will allow Feonix executive and board leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media & press, public officials, and key influencers.

● Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the sector and organization. Work with the board and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.

● Build and lead the communications development in deploying strategic digital campaigns around the impact Feonix provides in communities, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and major milestones.

● Build relationships with national and local media in the markets we work to generate organic content related to the stories of our impact in the community.

Communications Operations:

● Work with Feonix’s leadership to oversee the continued development and use of the Feonix brand.

● Responsible for strategic development, oversight, and finalization of all copy intended for public consumption to ensure its alignment with the strategic communications plan.

● Coordinate with the Feonix Community Development and Fundraising Teams to oversee the development of all print and branded materials.

● Oversee, or execute as needed, the development of electronic communications, including Feonix’s website, monthly electronic newsletter, and other electronic communications.

● Oversee, or execute as needed, the curation of content and strategic direction for Feonix’s social media channels to increase audience engagement.

● Exercise judgment to prioritize media opportunities, and prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material as needed.

● Prepare and support media engagement with regular press releases on project awards, board appointments, and major milestones.

● Manage and support relationships with any communications related vendors or consultants.

● Support development and fundraising efforts.

● Report on metrics related to Feonix’s strategic goals to leadership.

Requirements and Experience Preferred

● Bachelor’s Degree

● Proven experience as Director of Communications or equivalent position

● 10+ years of experience working with media

● Proven relationships with media and major publications

● 5 years social media ad campaigns

● Fundraising experience beneficial

● Experience managing and executing across several communications platforms

● Strong Portfolio

● Strong written communication skills, required

● Experience with G-Suite, required

● Ability to think on your feet and pivot quickly

● Agency experience beneficial

● Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, preferred

● Experience with WordPress and/or HTML, preferred

● Understanding of SEO and fundamentals of analytics

● Strong ability to analyze and report ROI on campaigns

● Willing to execute day to day tasks and work independently

● Capable leader, manager and coach for board, intern, or volunteer talent

● Good entrepreneurial work ethic and a desire to “get the job done”

● Willingness to share own ideas, even amongst senior staff and board members

● Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively
