Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Communications MinistryAssistant to join our team. The Communications Ministry Assistant will support the vision and mission of Ridgecrest Baptist Church (RBC) by facilitating the external and internal communication needs of the church and providing administrative support tothe Senior Pastor and the Executive/Discipleship Pastor. The Communications Ministry Assistant will develop an effective and cohesive external communication strategy that cultivates a welcoming, engaging, and accessible online presence for RBC through the church’s website and social media. This role will facilitate internal communication as a central hub for the ministry staff of RBC, as well as by integrating and mobilizing church members in the communication strategy.

Responsibilities

External Communication

  • Implement communication style and avenues that best represent and communicate the message of RBC.
  • Create style standards for all RBC communications.
  • Work with ministry staff to facilitate a process for effective and efficient external communication.
  • Work with the Media Coordinator to manage and use the logos, graphics, and videos that represent RBC.
  • Understand and implement best practices for Email Communication, Print Materials, Mail (individual correspondence & direct/bulk mail), Websites, Social Media.
  • Coordinate with external resources (i.e. photographers, web developers, graphic designers, marketing firms, printers, member volunteers, etc.) as needed.

Front-End Communication

  • Answer phone calls during office hours.
  • Manage correspondence including mail, voicemail, email, and regular mail.
  • Answer requests to enter the building (buzzer at office door) and greet weekday visitors.
  • Manage after house phone coordination.
  • Create weekly informational newsletters for print and email.
  • Communicate with deacons and life group leaders as requested by the Senior & Executive/Discipleship pastors.

Internal Communication

  • Maintain regular communication with church members as needed (cards/notes, emails, phone calls, meetings, et al.)
  • Responsible for Deacon communication and annual election.
  • Work as an interdepartmental liaison, providing communications support for multi-department projects.
  • Support the ministry staff by giving them resources for how to best communicate with the congregation and public.
  • Maintain a church calendar by coordinating scheduling and communication with church staff and members.
  • Provide up-to-date policies and procedures and other information to staff members.

Administration

  • Support staff meetings by creating agendas, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up action plans.
  • Function as “administrator/document control specialist” for continued development and utilization of the Church Management System (ChurchTeams) as the primary vehicle for infrastructure development.
  • Support regularly scheduled business meetings (Ridgecrest Family Updates – RFUs) ensuring reports are produced and distributed, and meeting minutes are kept.
  • Provide back-up support for the Stewardship department as needed for Time Clock Edits.
  • Manage the Senior Pastor’s & Executive/Discipleship Pastor’s calendars, functioning as the primary contact person for meetings and other schedule commitments.
  • Assist the Senior & Executive/Discipleship pastors as requested.

Experience

  • Love for Jesus and is actively growing in following Him. Understands and agrees with Baptist Faith & Message.
  • Must be friendly, adaptable, and a team player.
  • Should be skilled in planning, organizing, task prioritization, and should be a self-starter, detail-oriented person.
  • Experienced in designing digital and print newsletters.
  • Proficient in Website Content Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in using office equipment including copiers, fax machine, postage meter, etc.
  • Experience in using email marketing software preferred.
  • Experience in creating social media campaigns via Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or other applications preferred.
  • Graphic design experience is a plus.
  • Embrace stated vision, live RBC’s values, and be preoccupied with the church’s expressed mission statement.
  • 4 years’ experience in a church or communication role.

OR an Associate degree in a related field.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Should be lively, well-spoken, and communicative.
  • Excellent in social media management and knowledgeable of social media best practices – including new and upcoming avenues for social media engagement.
