SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Community Affairs Manager will be responsible for engaging the community in the Pacific Northwest, enhancing visibility for Hire Heroes USA, and managing partnerships to support veteran employment initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, Northwest, the Community Affairs Manager, Northwest Field Team is responsible for enhancing brand visibility, fostering client engagement, and nurturing community relationships across Washington and Oregon (Pacific Northwest). This role supports the Northwest Field Team by acting as the primary liaison within the community, helping to recruit clients for Hire Heroes USA, and strengthening partnerships with local military installations, military-connected organizations, and government officials.
The Community Affairs Manager will also oversee the Field Team's Transition Coordinator and Engagement & Advocacy Coordinator roles, managing their daily taskings. Additionally, the role will assist in cultivating relationships with businesses interested in hiring veterans and military spouses within the designated territory.
The Community Affairs Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, including Marketing and Communications, Program Operations, Capacity Building, Corporate Partnerships, and Client Services, to ensure seamless client service delivery, maintain brand consistency, and leverage organizational resources effectively. This role will support the Senior Program Manager, Northwest in representing Hire Heroes USA at high-profile community events, job fairs, conferences, and other relevant gatherings to enhance organizational visibility and credibility in the Pacific Northwest region.
This is a full-time, hybrid position. The Community Affairs Manager must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our Federal Way, Washington area office and be on-site regularly.
Responsibilities
Community Connector
- Foster and strengthen a military community coalition in the Pacific Northwest by cultivating relationships with diverse stakeholders, including veteran service organizations, military installations, local government agencies, and community leaders, to create a comprehensive support network for veteran employment initiatives
- Orchestrate and participate in collaborative events, workshops, and roundtables that bring together coalition members, potential employers, and job seekers, facilitating knowledge sharing, resource alignment, and the development of innovative strategies to address regional veteran employment challenges
Employment Liaison
- Spearhead business outreach efforts in the Pacific Northwest, working closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to drive veteran hiring initiatives, create employment opportunities, and develop partnerships across diverse business scales within the region
- Support revenue goals by maintaining a robust pipeline of employment partner prospects, assisting with research on potential partners by Corporate Partnerships standards
- Create and deliver high-value, partner-centric experiences, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information and fulfillment of deliverables; educate and train employers on the benefits of hiring veterans and military spouses
Leadership & Industry Insight
- Directly supervise and develop the Field Team's Transition Coordinator and Engagement & Advocacy Coordinator, providing strategic guidance, performance management, and professional development to ensure team effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals
- Act as a key leadership catalyst within the Northwest region, driving team performance through mentorship, setting clear expectations, and creating a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and mission-driven results
Internal Collaboration
- Streamline handoff of high-potential employment partners to the Corporate Partnerships team, ensuring smooth transition and continuity in relationship development
- Curate and disseminate up-to-date regional intelligence on veteran employment resources, events, and partners to internal teams, employers, and job seekers, maximizing placement opportunities
- Drive strategic alignment through regular collaboration with Corporate Partnership teams, spearheading discussions on networking, outreach, and partner management to ensure cohesive, impactful partnership activities
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality
- Support organization events and fundraisers as needed

Estimated New Hire Salary: $68,137 - $76,855 annually. This range represents base pay plus a +15% cost of living adjustment.
Hire Heroes USA may offer additional compensation to include annual bonuses, merit increases, cost of living, special or extra assignments outside the scope of the role, cell phone stipend, internet stipend, relocation, awards, compensatory time off, overtime, and gaining knowledge and proficiency through certifications and licensing.
