QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Education, Communications, Sustainability, or related field; 2 years of experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred in related fields with a focus on environmental studies and communications. Bilingual candidates are a plus.

Implement grant and outreach programs for energy and water conservation, develop educational materials, coordinate programming for underserved communities, establish community partnerships, perform administrative tasks, and track program metrics.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Energy Program Specialist will oversee a low-income energy program to reduce utility bills through education and efficiency rebates, along with community engagement and administrative support.
Educational Program Development and Delivery
- Create educational and training materials related to the Energy Upgrade program. This may include research and development of lesson plans, educational games, fact sheets, videos, power point presentations, blogs, and more.
- Coordinate, organize, and deliver programming for sustainability programs, with a focus on residential water and energy conservation for underserved community members. Delivery methods may include classes, workshops, trainings, events, webinars, and more.
- Serve as a resource and provide leadership and direction to the sustainability program, volunteers, residents, funders, and grant stakeholders. Provide responses to individual stakeholder questions, in addition to group education formats.
- Develop, design, and maintain communication tools for use with various partners such as subject-specific brochures, infographics, flyers, informative emails and e-newsletters, social media posts, videos and other material that furthers the Extension education mission.
- Create and promote success stories across the community to highlight programs, projects, and partners.
- Lead or assist in planning, marketing, recruitment, and implementation efforts for events and workshops.
- Establish and maintain effective system for community information, contacts, list serves, etc.
- Work to build positive relationships and maintain regular communication with diverse, strategic community partners and provide regular opportunities for networking and engagement with a goal of ensuring a connected and informed environmental network.
- Administrative duties to support the sustainability program such as data entry and analysis, reporting, research, literature reviews, grant writing, grant reporting, and grant management support.
- Evaluate educational programs and activities and process evaluation data.
- Track program and grant metrics to show success and to evaluate opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain reports and records.
- Process grant and rebate applications, and grant budget paperwork.
- Advise and interpret local, state, and federal energy and water conservation programs and incentives for citizens. Stays informed on legislative policies related to the sustainability sector.
- Plan, schedule, facilitate, and attend meetings, committees, events, and programs. Create meeting agendas and summary reports.
- Identify and document process and program improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
- Associate’s degree in Education, Communications, Planning, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Political Science, Building Science, Energy Technology, Social Work or related field based on teaching topic (Energy and Water Efficiency, Sustainability).
- Two (2) years of experience.
- Related science or environmental education teaching experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for required education.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Political Science, Environmental Education, Sustainability, Marketing, Communications, Biology or closely related fields. Prefer education and/or experience in both environmental studies and communications.
- Previous science or environmental education teaching experience.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Background in sustainability, environmental education, marketing, communications, writing, video production, grant administration and project management.
- Ability to prepare and coordinate educational materials.
- Ability to create and generate reports.
- Knowledge of research techniques/methods of data collection and analysis.
- Ability to develop, design, and deliver in-person, e-learning and web-based classes.
- Ability to plan and facilitate trainings and meetings.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload, work on multiple projects simultaneously and independently, often with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work within a program budget and monitor grant funding.
- Ability to collect and report our financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and in non-technical terms. Presentation skills are essential to this role.
- Level 2 (DCF Clearinghouse) background check screening will be required for working with youth including online Youth Protection Training with a minimum score of 90%.
