QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of technical experience, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of opioid crisis trends and infectious diseases, along with human relations and communication skills, preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement community engagement and outreach programs focused on opioid overdose death prevention and disease prevention. Collaborate with stakeholders, design educational materials, recruit and train volunteers, and assist with in-clinic and statewide outreach services.

The position entails developing and delivering community outreach programs aimed at preventing opioid overdoses and infectious diseases, while supporting community relationships and education.

- Partners with the Programs Manager, Medical Director, and Administrative Manager to develop, implement, and deliver effective direct outreach and overdose death prevention programming. Goal is to expand services provided directly to community members in the realms of overdose death prevention, harm reduction, syringe services and recovery support. Will support referral partnerships and data collection/dissemination related to overdose death prevention and infectious disease prevention efforts.
- Collaborates with local stakeholders to include: private, public, nonprofit, EMS and recovery/treatment agencies to ensure program effectiveness and institutional cooperation. Collaborates with other offices, departments, and agencies. Acts as a liaison for the opioid overdose death prevention and infectious disease prevention programs.
- Designs, supports, and implements education and outreach programs in accordance with evidence-based strategies.
- Coordinates and schedules direct outreach programming.
- Responsible for organizing and preparation of educational materials for participants and trainings.
- Attends conferences and classes and reads literature to learn of new developments in the area.
- Recruits and trains volunteers and agency adopters as well as individual community liaisons in agency settings.
- May participate on/with committees or organizations who’s purpose is to support opioid overdose death and infectious disease prevention.
- Additional Functions may include:
- Assist with in-clinic harm reduction activities to include:
- syringe services/exchange
- informing participants/individuals on how and when to use naloxone
- providing recovery referral information to participants, team members, and community partners
- providing information/education on disease prevention and safer sex/substance use
- Assist with direct community outreach to provide essential harm reduction services, naloxone trainings, and distribution of kits statewide.
- Assist with monitoring, organizing, and transporting supplies that support Utah Naloxone programming.
- Participate in, and lead when necessary, community outreach events, naloxone kit buildings, and events with collaborating partners.
- Assist with partnership development and maintenance for the organization.
