Follett Content Solutions seeks a Content Strategist to drive content marketing initiatives and enhance brand visibility, targeting educators and students, while collaborating across various teams.

Follett Content Solutions helps build a diverse collection of print and digital resources to support every student. We are currently hiring for a Content Strategist. This position is a full-time exempt position located in McHenry, IL. The pay range for this position is $70,000 -$90,000 annually with bonus eligibility. To learn more about the benefits we offer please click here. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday) and 2 remote days (Wednesday & Friday). For the right candidate we will consider remote candidate's as well.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Content Strategist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in B2B content marketing, social media marketing, and influencer marketing. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of planning, creating, and executing successful content marketing strategies and assets that attract, engage, and convert prospects into qualified leads.

The Content Strategist will be responsible for identifying, developing, and amplifying Follett Content’s established reputation in education and using content marketing to build revenue-generating, transformative growth for Follett Content Solutions. S/he will work together with the Sr. Content Marketing Manager to develop a content strategy; collaborate across the Marketing, Sales, and Product Teams; build brand advocates and thought leaders; and help define both the brand story and the story as interpreted by the customer.

The Content Strategist is strategic with excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills. S/he will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of content and marketing activities, and coordinate multiple, simultaneous projects. Experience with SEO, UTM parameters, data analytics, copywriting, and design is a must. Our target audience is highly specialized, so our ideal candidate would have experience using various social media management and digital analytics software/tools, worked in education and/or the PreK-12 industry supporting education, and a passion for inspiring literacy in young people.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Marketing:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive content marketing strategies and a corresponding calendar that aligns with business goals and audience needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Product, and Design Teams to recommend content placement across channels and ensure longevity of content.
  • Interview and build relationships with customers and thought leaders to create authentic and engaging content that addresses their needs and showcases our expertise.
  • Write, edit, and produce various types of content, including blog posts, articles, reels and shorts, etc.
  • Ensure all content is optimized for search engines to improve visibility and organic traffic.
  • Analyze content performance metrics to refine strategies and improve future content.
  • Support the webinar program by strategizing topics, coordinating presenters and logistics, and promoting webinars to drive attendance and engagement.

Social Media Marketing:

  • Craft comprehensive plans to increase brand awareness and engagement across various social media platforms, ensuring alignment with overall marketing campaigns.
  • Create and maintain a detailed editorial calendar to organize and schedule social media posts, coordinating with campaign managers to integrate content seamlessly.
  • Create. Curate, and post engaging content tailored to each platform’s audience.
  • Actively engage and interact with followers, responding to comments, and managing online activities that foster engagement.
  • Monitor social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies and make data-driven decisions, and to monitor for potential issues and negative feedback. Exercise sound judgment in responding and/or coordinating support as appropriate.
  • In coordination with the Sr. Content Marketing Manager, escalate and implement a crisis response plan to address brand reputation risk quickly and effectively.

Influencer Marketing:

  • Research and identify influencers who align with our vision, mission, and target audience.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with influencers to foster long-term partnerships to expand reach and generate leads.
  • Interview and build relationships with customers and thought leaders to create authentic and engaging content.
  • Coordinate influencer campaigns, including content creation, approvals, tracking, and performance.
  • Ensure all influencer activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and manage contracts and agreements.
  • Analyze content performance metrics to refine strategies and improve future content.

Copywriting and Design:

  • Write clear, compelling, and engaging content for various platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, and email.
  • Ensure all written content aligns with Follett Content’s voice and style guide.
  • Incorporate SEO best practices into copy to improve search engine rankings and drive organic traffic.
  • Design graphics, reels, and other visual elements to complement written content and enhance user engagement.
  • Maintain consistency in design elements across all content to ensure a cohesive brand identity.
  • Incorporate multimedia elements such as reels, shorts, and interactive content into the overall content strategy.
  • Create or modify visual content when the full-time designers are unavailable or during peak times.
  • Develop and maintain design templates to streamline the content creation process.

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Must have extensive experience in B2B content marketing, social media marketing, and influencer marketing.
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Blue Sky, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and YouTube is a must. TikTok is desirable but not required.
  • Strong copywriting and design skills, with the ability to create engaging and visually appealing content that drives lead generation is required.
  • Requires strong analytical skills, with experience of SEO best practices, UTM parameters, and the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions to enhance lead generation. Familiarity with Google Analytics.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Wistia, HubSpot, and Sprout Social or similar software is required.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Experience in the education sector is highly desirable.
  • Public relations experience is desirable but not required.
