LOCATION
Hybrid remote setting with a typical office environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (MBA preferred), 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, 7+ years in a leadership role, CPA preferred, and expertise in accounting principles and regulations. Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversight of day-to-day accounting functions, preparation and analysis of financial statements, management of cash transactions and payroll, development of internal controls, coordination of budgeting and financial review processes, and leading the accounting team. Ad hoc reporting and implementation of process improvements are also key responsibilities.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Controller will support the CFO in managing day-to-day accounting activities and team leadership, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with regulations while driving improvements in accounting processes.
The Controller is responsible for providing high-level support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) by directing the companys day-to-day accounting activities and team members. As a financial leadership position with essential decision-making responsibilities, the Controller will serve as a subject matter expert in accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices. Duties include oversight of accounting practices, internal controls, audits, cash management, interpretation of financial data, and recommending changes to improve systems and financial performance. The position directs the use of the general ledger and all accounting systems (Sage Intacct and Paycom) with an emphasis on maximizing technology for efficiency and effectiveness.
Duties and responsibilities

Direct the day to day accounting functions, including, but not limited togeneral ledger, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, month-end close, year-end close, cash transactions, payroll, variance analysis, etc. for a large multi-specialty medical group:
- Medical Oncology
- Gynecologic Oncology
- Radiation Oncology
- General Surgery
- Breast Surgery
- Imaging PET/CT
- Clinical Laboratory Pathology
- Urology
- Dermatology
- Research
- Avalon (Co-Management)
- Direct the preparation, review, and variance analysis of monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness for use by leadership and external stakeholders for all specialties.
- Direct the preparation, review, and variance analysis of yearend financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness for use by leadership and external stakeholders for all specialties including consolidation of subdivision financials that do not use Arizona Center for Cancer Care (AZCCC) corporate accounting services.
- Direct fixed asset accounting process including disposal of assets.
- Direct the day-to-day financial components of the pension program (401k, profit sharing, and cash balance plans) to include funding, audit, and census preparation for actuary.
- Direct the day-to-day financial components of the companys self-funded health insurance benefits program.
- Coordinate, with the CFO, annual budgeting process (fiscal year is calendar year) by developing schedules, reports, and reconciliations for the leadership team.
- Coordinate, with the CFO, annual financial review process (fiscal year is calendar year) by developing schedules, reports, and reconciliations for the independent auditor.
- Coordinate, with the CFO, annual partnership tax return (fiscal year is calendar year) by developing schedules, reports, and reconciliations for the external tax accountants.
- Coordinate, with the CFO, treasury management functions to include accounting and reporting for a daily money market fund (MMF) sweep account.
- Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the implementation of accounting transformation and process improvement projects as defined by the CFO and leadership team.
- Develop AZCCC Corporate Accounting staff by directing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, mentorship, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
- Ad hoc reporting and all other duties as assigned projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting and finance, MBA preferred.
- 10 plus years of progressive accounting experience
- 7 plus years proven experience in an accounting leadership role in similar industry or company.
- Healthcare industry, multi-specialty, physician practice experience preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent understanding of governmental guidelines and tax laws that affect the company.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving
- Able to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Oracle
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
