Founded in 1987, Damien Center is Indiana's oldest and largest AIDS service organization (ASO) and serves more than 8000 individuals living with or at risk for HIV through a comprehensive, innovative approach to care and prevention. Position Summary:

The Corporate Engagement & Events Manager is responsible for setting vision for fundraising events, developing concrete implementation plans, soliciting sponsorships, gifts and engagement from corporate partners, managing logistical details specific to events, and evaluating the success of all Damien Center fundraising events. This position will lead the research and concept development for existing and future fundraising events with the goal of increasing revenue and donor engagement. The Corporate Engagement & Events Manager will identify prospects, develop funding and sponsorship proposals, maintain active relationships with corporate partners, including soliciting gifts up to $50,000.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate all signature fundraising events, including Grande Masquerade, Dining Out for Life, Garage Party, and the One Home Ride, with the intent to grow year-over-year revenue and attendance for each event.
  • Oversee additional educational or community-building events put on by the donor relations and marketing team, such as World AIDS Day, giving society parties, board engagement events, or any new events.
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate donors and sponsors. Build relationships with them, identify potential to grow their giving, and solicit gifts throughout the year.
  • Identify and cultivate new local and national corporations for potential sponsorships, donations, and grants.
  • Create sponsorship templates and customize them for individualized proposals.
  • Facilitate Grande Masquerade committee serving as committee lead, managing relationships with committee members, and preparing agendas for meetings.
  • Collaborate with other donor relations team members to build deeper engagement with Damien's mission beyond solely events. Facilitate warm handoffs to the CEO and other donor relations team members for current and potential donors who may have capacity to give or increase giving to Damien Center.
  • Research and attend networking opportunities as an organizational representative and to build relationships for potential future sponsors. Prioritize key constituencies like the Indianapolis Rainbow Chamber, Economic Club, and other events as identified.
    • Solicit auction items and other in-kind donations as needed.
    • Manage implementation of sponsor and donor benefit packages.
    • Organize 1-2 annual Employee Resource Group (ERG) events connecting ERGs throughout Indianapolis with leadership at Damien Center with a goal of increasing monetary and volunteer engagement.
    • Assure revenue and expenses are within approved budgets, including negotiating contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure Damien Center receives best possible rates.
      • Conduct research, make site visits, negotiate rates, and manage relationships with event venues.
      • Collaborate with marketing team to develop materials related to events including external communications, printed event materials (including but not limited to signage, programs, nametags, etc.) and event scripts.
      • Manage on-site production before, during, and after all events. Develop and maintain high production values and procedures for events.
      • Oversee other event elements, including content development, list and data management, RSVP management, catering, and eventday logistics and coordination.
      • Collaborate with team members to ensure that donor and attendee data is recorded and entered in donor database.
      • When necessary, assist with marketing and coordination for third-party events.
      • Conduct postevent surveys, debriefings, and other assessments to evaluate successful elements and challenges encountered, incorporating that information into the planning and execution of subsequent events.
      • Evaluate potential for new or different events.
        • Act as Damien Center representative for national Dining Out For Life organization and convention and lead in restaurant recruitment and relationship manager for Damien Center's annual event.
        • Performs special assignments and other work, on an as-needed basis.


Education and/or Experience


Bachelor's Degree required, ideally in a relevant area. Three years' experience in special events, marketing and event management required. 2-3 years of fundraising required. Experience in donor and community relations preferred. Working knowledge of best practices in special events required.

Possess superior organizational and administrative skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to work independently and achieve high standards of productivity, achieving deadlines and with superior product results. Strong calendaring, organizational, and document management skills required. Proactive approach to solving problems and communicating to leadership. Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and office equipment required. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
