Description
Leading a team of thinkers and doers, the Creative Director nurtures the creative ideas and oversees the overall performance of the creative team, including but not limited to: Art Directors, Graphic Designers, and Copywriters. It is essential for the Creative Director to have a holistic understanding of the entire creative process. They are skilled at maintaining a cohesive look and feel of a job despite often working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple projects. They ensure that the visuals, messaging, and interactive elements of a project are properly aligned with the creative vision and MEC brand standards. The Creative Director must be exceptional at pitching creative concepts as well as communicating ideas to the creative team, brand members, and executives.
- Oversee the structure, processes, staffing, resources and productivity of the Art Directors.
- Ensure consistency of art direction and design quality by clearly setting design expectations and managing templates of preferred fonts, backgrounds, design treatments, colors, logos, package shots, etc.
- Collaboratively establish brand books, logo usage guidelines, templates, design strategy and the creative vision for Monster Energy Company brands.
- Organize, lead and manage creative and production teams that develop artwork for product packaging, promotional campaigns, Point-of-Sale materials, presentation assets, premium products, vehicle wraps, event resources, athlete branding, digital marketing initiatives and more.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the company’s internal Art Department which supports company’s brands globally.
- Oversee the traffic manager to prioritize the workflow and manage the output of designers to ensure high productivity and excellent quality.
- Act as an in-house agency for Brand Marketing, New Product Development, Sports Marketing, Marketing Services, Digital Marketing, Customer Marketing, Field Marketing, Sales and International counterparts by enforcing job requesting requirements, clearly setting delivery expectations and maintaining open communication.
- Form strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including: Brand Marketing, New Product Development, Sports Marketing, Marketing Services, Digital Marketing, Customer Marketing, Field Marketing, Sales and International counterparts.
- Develop and oversee the entire artwork development process including but not limited to: job submission/creative brief, submission confirmation and approval, establishing timeline, photo edit, copy writing, art direction, designer assignment, scheduling of pre-design meeting, internal/external approval, file delivery, and job tracking.
- Recruit, train and develop creative and production personnel to meet the growing demands on the Art Department.
- Dedicate increased resources towards artwork development for major initiatives such as new product launches, national/global promotions, major sponsorships, and new territory launches to ensure deadlines are met with the highest level of quality and attention to detail.
- Source and manage free-lance artists and designers for new perspectives and/or periods of peak workload.
- Attend regular conference calls and meetings with Brand Marketing, Marketing Services, Field Marketing, and Customer Marketing and International counterparts to facilitate communication.
Position Requirements:
- Qualified candidate will have 10+ years of experience as Art/Creative Director managing an Art Department ideally from the beverage/packaged goods, action sports, motorsports, music or other Monster Energy lifestyle-relevant industry.
- Direct supervisory experience of creative and production teams with proven ability to coach, challenge and improve the capabilities of an Art Department.
- Highly creative design abilities for lifestyle brands.
- Heart of a coach and teacher with demonstrated ability to oversee and lead design projects that other designers develop.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Self-motivated and the ability to inspire those around them.
- Must have been with the same firm for a minimum of 2-years with demonstrated success managing an Art Department.
- Demonstrated success meeting tight deadlines with cross-functional teams of creatives, clients and vendors.
- Must have a strong sense of urgency.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be a collaborative team player.
- Must be decisive and enforce brand standards.
- Candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in design, advertising, or marketing.
- Knowledge of print shop operations including the various types of printers, printing processes, substrates, inks, coatings, dies, etc.
- Experience with digital asset management.
- Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Mac OS, and ftp sites.
Base Pay Range USD 120,955.00 to USD 142,300.00
