SHORT DESCRIPTION

Join Blue Shield of California as a Senior Creative Writer - Proofreader, responsible for maintaining editorial integrity and quality assurance in high-volume communications while educating teams on brand guidelines.

Your Role

The Creative Studio team is looking for a Creative Writer, Senior - Proofreader who is an expert proofreading professional who can work in a high-volume setting to maintain brand and editorial style integrity as well as conduct quality assurance reviews on design compositions. The Creative Writer, Senior - Proofreader will report to the Senior Manager, Creative Studio. In this role you will review member communications and marketing pieces for content quality, correct grammar, readability (reading levels), adherence to brand style, typographical errors, and consistent application of design elements. The ideal candidate must be exacting and detail oriented.


Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Incorporate client feedback and Legal Department feedback on subsequent drafts
  • Revise and/or edit communications developed outside our department, making consistent with brand and style guidelines
  • Educate peers, stakeholders, and other business groups about the brand and the department, through creative brief reviews, copy feedback, consultations, and training sessions
  • Proofread marketing and member communication content, making sure content is free of grammatical and typographical errors, meets readability standards, follows house and AP styles, and applies consistent design standards
  • Partner with account management and creative teams to meet deadlines, keep projects on track, and manage priorities
  • Use Adobe Workfront workflow platform to make updates on projects
  • Stay up to date on brand writing style and approved organization nomenclature
  • Conduct research as needed as part of fact-checking process
  • Maintain writing style book
  • Work on small writing projects, such as letters
  • Attend team meetings and project meetings, as needed

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as marketing, business, communications, English, or journalism
  • Requires at least 5 years of prior relevant experience in health plan, insurance, or pharmaceutical marketing editing/proofreading or a similar heavily regulated industry
  • Requires demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Requires demonstrated ability to work on digital platforms and ability to learn new marketing technologies
  • Requires excellent planning, project management, organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Proven relationship-building skills when working with cross-functional internal and external partners
  • Ability to multitask with multiple deadlines and/or milestone requirements

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 80300.00 to $ 120450.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.

  • On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
