SHORT DESCRIPTION
Seeking an experienced Department Manager for Game and Entertainment Design to oversee administrative processes, support budget management, and enhance departmental operations at the Goldsmith Campus.
We are searching for an experienced Department Manager, Game and Entertainment Design at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department Manager provides crucial administrative support for the Chair of Game and Entertainment Design, functioning as a primary staff intake for a variety of administrative matters. The Department Manager reports to the Chair while working closely with Academic Affairs. This is a 12-month full-time staff position.
CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with the Chair to develop and execute processes that create an effective and efficient administrative workflow within the Department.
- Serves as the primary administrative facilitator of matters related to staff offices outside of the Game and Entertainment Design Department, including the Registrar, Academic Advising, Academic Administrative Coordinators, and Marketing and Communications.
- Working with the Chair and the Academic Administrative Coordinators, manages reconciliation of the program budgets. Advises Chair on recommended budgetary allocations and resources based on short and long-term plans.
- Performs and responds to communications and duties in a timely manner to ensure smooth daily, short, and long-term operations and contributes to achieve effective workflow and outcome.
- Coordinates the planning of department events and special projects. Assists in arranging for faculty and student participation.
- Leads on important administrative record keeping for the Department, including the documentation and archiving of materials for annual program assessment and regular program review.
- Functions as a liaison with Shops, Labs, & Studios (Technical Support Services), Facilities Management, and Information Technology as needed.
- Directs departmental faculty to course scheduling information, the Nest, and support resources at the College such as the Teaching and Learning Center, Student Learning Center, and the Library.
- Directs students to Students Affairs, the Student Learning Centers, or towards other student support resources within the College, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours on occasion.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience is required.- A minimum of 2 years of related work experience in office management and budget administration, preferably in an academic setting.
- Ability to effectively identify priority matters and projects, in keeping with policies of the College as well as strategic planning goals as established by either the College or the Chair of Game and Entertainment Design.
- Strong organizational, collaboration, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent ability to work efficiently, cooperatively, and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Technological proficiency and adaptability for administrative responsibilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- Empathetic and supportive working style.
- Facility with software applications such as the Adobe Suite, graphic design software, animation software, game design software, and similar.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation Type: Annual Salary
Salary Range: 84,233.00 - 103,103.00
