BACKGROUND:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity, respect, and recognition for domestic workers in the United States. NDWA was founded in 2007 by organizers and worker leaders in six cities representing nannies, house cleaners, and care workers, and now represents an alliance of more than 76 organizations across 22 states and 395,000 domestic workers nationally.

Position Summary:
The Deputy Director, Brand and Marketing, will serve as a critical operational leader within the Brand and Marketing Division of a dynamic and growing nonprofit advocacy organization. Reporting to the Vice President (VP) of Brand, Marketing, and Culture Change, this role ensures the effective implementation of strategic goals and oversees the division’s daily operations. The Deputy Director will streamline workflows, coordinate cross-functional collaboration, and provide leadership to a team of managers and staff. Acting as the VP’s operational partner, this role bridges strategy and execution to ensure the division delivers high-impact campaigns and initiatives.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
Ensure seamless execution of the division’s strategic objectives by developing and managing operational workflows, systems, and processes.
Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure goals are met efficiently and effectively.
Establish and lead processes to set, track, and report on the impact of marketing initiatives on advancing strategic goals, , providing regular updates and recommendations to the VP.
2. Strategic Support:
Act as a thought partner to the VP in operational and tactical decision-making.
Lead or support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the VP.
Provide expert guidance on process improvements, operational challenges, and resource allocation.
3. Team Coordination and Leadership:
Serve as a key liaison between the VP and division staff, facilitating communication and alignment across teams.
Support the VP in setting a culture of collaborative leadership, including planning and facilitating departmental meetings, retreats, and other team-building initiatives.
Oversee day-to-day team operations, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and high performance.
4. Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Facilitate coordination with other organizational departments, such as fundraising, policy, and program teams, to align marketing efforts with overall organizational goals.
Lead cross-functional collaboration between Brand, Marketing, Communications, and other organizational divisions (e.g., Development, Advocacy).
Ensure division projects integrate effectively with organizational priorities and external campaigns.
5. Problem-Solving and Process Improvement:
Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to enhance division efficiency.
Foster a proactive, solutions-oriented culture within the team, focusing on removing obstacles to success.
Establish systems and tools to improve coordination, collaboration, and transparency.
6. Performance Management and Reporting:
Support development of and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the division’s programs and campaigns.
Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and dashboards for internal stakeholders and the VP.
Identify and address bottlenecks or blockers to improve project execution.
7. Staff Supervision and Development:
Position does not currently have direct reports, but may evolve into a management role in the future.
Mentor and support team members, providing professional development opportunities to enhance their skills.
Promote a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
Qualifications:
Experience:
At least 8 years of professional experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles managing operations or programs in a nonprofit or advocacy organization. Understanding of marketing, communications, or campaigns strongly preferred.
Experience in team management, project execution, and cross-departmental collaboration, with proven ability to operationalize decisions into actionable plans.
Demonstrated success in overseeing the implementation of strategic goals in dynamic environments.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports, memos, and presentations.
Strategic problem-solver with the ability to anticipate and address challenges proactively.
Proficient in project management tools (e.g., Airtable, Asana, Trello) and data analysis platforms.
Adept at building relationships and fostering collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proactive and decisive leader with the ability to manage stress and remain composed under pressure.
Collaborative and empathetic, with strong listening skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, ensuring division operations run smoothly and effectively.
