SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Deputy Director works closely with the Chief Program Officer to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies, oversee marketing efforts, and ensure effective project management across programs.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Deputy Director works closely with the Chief Program Officer on the strategic and tactical level. This position will have responsibility for developing department goals and monitoring progress toward them, monitoring budget expenditures and collaborating with other team and project leads regarding departmental needs.

The Deputy Director will have increasing responsibility for leading the development of the annual program development proposal plan, including allocation of time and resources.

This position will collaborate across the department functions in support of achieving the programmatic goals and outcomes.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

RC PROGRAMS

  • Works in close collaboration with the Chief and Director to ensure there is alignment and consistency between and among RC programs workshops, courses and books.
  • Collaborates with others to ensure that the articulation of the RC approach is consistent.
  • Is a thought leader for the development, revision or evolution of existing program services, materials and products.
  • Provides leadership for ensuring project proposals are developed based upon the proposal development model and approved project proposals are managed to timeline and budget.
  • Can design scalable workshop materials and can coach others in doing so.
  • Works closely with Chief to identify or to lead through the development process and maintain team cohesion and project goal focus, preventing project creep.
  • Collaborates with Chief and Director to oversee and guide content development and curriculum design for service and product development.
  • Leads internal team and external experts to design instructional and program related materials and resources.
  • Leads and/or plays a critical role in supporting the annual needs program assessment for making decision for program development, revision, or evolution.
  • Manages the process to interpret and apply user data for program improvements.
  • Supports the Chief in defining, administering and direction the work of the RC Programs staff and collaborates with other departments to ensure work is not siloed.
  • Ensures all program design and development follows a set of quality principles.

RC MARKETING

  • Works in close collaboration with the Chief and Director on the development and execution of annual plan for inbound and outbound marketing.
  • Provides oversight support to monitor, evaluate, and adjust plan on a regular and on-going basis for effectiveness to achieve desired results and return on investment.
  • Works closely with the Chief, website administrator, marketing team and external vendors to ensure website is optimized for ecommerce.
  • Understands the macro-level goals and business objectives for RC and uses that knowledge to ensure marketing campaigns are designed to achieve or exceed those goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Director to ensure marketing efforts are appropriately leverages for “lead generation” and with the intent of converting customers and potential customers to sales opportunities.
  • Works closely with the department stakeholders to ensure the RC website is SEO optimized and well maintained.
  • Place and monitor media buys – and makes adjustments as necessary to optimize results as required.
  • Evaluates digital advertising performance – works with marketing teams to produce detailed, actionable reports on campaigns.
  • Supports the Director in setting high standards and clearly communicates all other marketing practices.
  • Works closely with Chief to hire, train and retain talented marketing team who are motivated, engaged and competent.
  • Recommends tradeshow attendance.
  • Works closely with the RC team to plan marketing strategy for tradeshows.
  • Responsible for RC brand integrity in all marketing and marketing assets.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Leads the development of and monitors the execution of Project Management Planning for all projects from idea to completion.
  • Supports and/ or, as required, defines, administers, and directs the work of program staff.
  • Oversees plans for videography, photography and selection and oversight of freelancers (contract work-for-hire).
  • Ensures that there is a well-designed framework for organizing and deciding upon which development project proposals move forward for request for approval.
  • Provides appropriate oversight for project management and staff workload to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Oversees process for determining initial print runs, reprint quantities, and inventory controls.
  • Responsible for ensuring all files are well-organized for documentation and future use. Effectively manage a record retention policy for files.
  • Works with other departments Chiefs to bring projects to a close and prepare for market status as requires.



OTHER DUTIES

  • Ability to travel (sometimes extensively) is required
  • Represents CRS positively and professionally in interactions with clients, vendors, and the community at large in both in person and virtual interactions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Program staff as directed by Chief.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, minimum of 4 years of leadership experience, preference for school or district leader with direct supervision of staff and focus on curriculum and instruction.
  • Exceptional writing skills, background in communications, writing, journalism, or related field and/or related work experience that clearly demonstrates readiness and competence for this position.
  • Deep and demonstrable understanding of and capacity for curriculum design, learning experience design, andragogy, and theory of adult learning.
  • The ability to operate on both a tactical and a strategic level.
  • Able to provide competent supervision to a highly effective development team.
  • Exceptional project management expertise, particularly the ability to oversee multiple, complex projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Can communicate with respect and authority for a range of purposes, including but not limited to promoting a healthy organizational culture, providing direct feedback, and sharing decisions.
  • Experience in managing vendor and contractor relations and paying attention to contract details.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Knowledge of or able to quickly learn HubSpot, Salesforce, and other CRM software.
  • Highly accountable for performance; goal oriented and flexible.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Disposition is consistently professional, cooperative, and collegial as evidenced by workplace maturity, composure, perspective, transparency, reliability, integrity, and trustworthiness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to use a computer for up to 8 hours per day with breaks and lunch
  • Able to talk on the phone for up to 8 hours per day
  • Lift up to 30 lbs. on occasion
  • Able to travel by airplane or car, at times extensively
  • Must be able to show proof of COVID-19 primary vaccinations or submit a medical or religious exemption
