Bachelor's degree with experience in fundraising, proven track record of closing gifts, and stewardship of donor relationships. Ability to travel frequently both in and out of state.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage major gifts and legacy giving programs, conceptualize and implement fundraising initiatives, produce performance reports, develop fundraising metrics, and enhance cultivation strategies for prospects and donors. Supervise staff involved in engagement initiatives and represent the Foundation at external events.

The Army Heritage Center Foundation seeks a Development Director to secure support for the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center through major gifts, corporate funding, and effective fundraising strategies.
Development Director (Major Gifts)
SUMMARY:
The Army Heritage Center Foundation is seeking a proven and successful development director (major gift). Under supervision of the Resource Development Committee and the President, secures support for the foundation which supports the expansion of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Additional experience with corporate and foundation gifts, capital campaigns, and legacy giving is desired.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Core Responsibilities:
- Conceptualizes, implements, directs, and analyzes fundraising and engagement initiatives, such as membership drives and business support for our programs.
- Manages and leads major gifts and legacy giving programs
- Produces reports related to fundraising performance.
- Develops metrics to effectively measure fundraising progress
- Plans and monitors the budgets for development initiatives and special events.
- Develops awards and recognition to drive strategic fundraising goals.
- Enhances cultivation strategies for top prospects and donors.
- Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in engagement initiatives and programs.
- Assists with grant writing and reporting.
- Represents the Foundation at external events.
- Supervises Membership and Donor Relations Coordinator.
- Manages the annual Membership and Recognition Dinner.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified including a proven track record of closing gifts and stewarding donor relationships. Ability to travel frequently both in and out of state by all means of transportation.

- Knowledge of marketing strategies, processes, and available resources.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with the Foundation Board of Directors, staff, prospects, donors, government staff, and volunteers.
- Possess program planning and leadership skills.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
- Knowledgeable in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Knowledge of and able to use Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge of development software programs and Internet based assets.
- Records maintenance skills.
- Database management skills.
- Ability to persuade and influence others.
- Ability to make evaluative judgments.
- Ability to assess and interpret the needs and wishes of prospective donors and to translate these into effective action plans.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports.
- DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Position requirements: A highly motivated self-starter who is able to articulate to a varied audience the value of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center to the Nation and the Army Heritage Center Foundation’s efforts to grow the Center. Ability to develop and implement plans to meet fundraising goals and objectives. Excellent writing skills.
- Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment.
- Frequent overnight travel is required.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Limited physical effort required.
- Limited exposure to physical risk.
- Must be willing to submit to background check and reference review.
- Position is full-time, exempt.
- Telecommuting permitted. Work may be performed remotely with regularly scheduled contact through office visits, conference calls, and/or video conferences.
- Expected onsite presence at all major Foundation events.
