Development Associate
General Summary
United Methodist Community House (UMCH) is a fast-growing nonprofit organization that is seeking a Development Associate to join our team. The Development Associate will have an exciting opportunity to join UMCH as we launch a historic capital campaign to expand our facility and better meet the growing demand for our services throughout Kent County. This position will provide oversight for the donor database, gift acceptance, and gift acknowledgment process. Alongside the Development Director, the Development Associate will support the implementation of our annual fundraising strategy to support the mission of UMCH, and will implement digital communication strategies with external audiences through social media, the UMCH website, and email blasts. They will also play a key coordination role in the capital campaign, working alongside other UMCH staff members, consultants, and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and extraordinary attention to detail, a love for problem-solving and learning new things, and an interest in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with donors. They will enjoy working and interacting with people with a wide variety of backgrounds and points of view. Most importantly, they will have the desire to contribute to a strong team while building a more vibrant and equitable community for all.
Donor Tracking & Data Management
· Coordinate gift acknowledgment process with Development Director and CEOs including thank-you letters, phone calls, etc.
· Oversee donor database management and maintenance, including entering donations and grants, tracking donor cultivation and stewardship touchpoints, tracking outstanding donor payments, recording notes from donor meetings, and other relevant donor information
· Track key metrics and prepare database reports for leadership as needed
· Organize and maintain donation files and documentation
· Coordinate capital campaign documents, meetings, information, tours, and campaign volunteer activities/assignments
Communications, Donor Relations, & Administrative Support
· Facilitate digital communication with external audiences including social media, website updates, and email blasts
· Contribute to the development of impact stories and donor collateral
· Manage printing and mailing process for donor appeals, annual reports, and any other key donor touch points throughout the year
· Assist Development Director with scheduling and meeting logistics
· Coordinate planning process for donor events, including participating in event conceptualization, managing event timelines, and serving as the point of contact for vendors and volunteers
· Prepare materials for campaign team members as needed, including progress reports, donor solicitation packets, tour packets, letters of introduction, etc.
Qualifications:
· Passion: Excited to champion the mission and vision of UMCH
· Knowledge: Minimally a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
· Experience: At least two years of professional experience in development, communications, or related field
· Initiative: Able to think strategically, manage multiple priorities, seek opportunities for improvement, and initiate projects
· Computer skills: High level of comfort with Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms, preferably some experience with donor databases and email marketing platforms
· Interest in People: Enjoys building relationships and finding value alignment/connections between donors and UMCH
· Great Communicator: Able to communicate meaningfully in person and in writing with donors, clients, and community members
· Values Inclusion: With cultural competency, able to connect and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.60 - $26.40 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
