LOCATION

QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate degree, minimum of two years in non-profit fundraising/marketing, outstanding English writing skills, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with graphic design and basic HTML/web knowledge preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Development & Communications Associate (DCA) will support fundraising and marketing efforts, serving as a storyteller for Radio Bilingüe and working closely with management to elevate Latino voices through independent media.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Development & Communications Associate (DCA) will serve as an integral member of a two-person development team and report to the Director of Development and Communications. The DCA will play a lead role in contributing to Radio Bilingüe’s fundraising and marketing areas. They will work closely with senior managers across departments, including Co-Executive Directors, Business & Grants Administration Director and Director of Broadcasting.

This position serves as the organization’s storyteller, representing Radio Bilingüe’s unique programming and impact to funders, partners and the public. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent writing skills, grant writing experience, initiative, positivity and collaboration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent time management, discretion and sound judgment. They will share Radio Bilingüe’s passion for Latino-controlled independent media and elevating Latino voices.

DUTIES

The DCA will share the Development Department duties listed below, with an opportunity to grow in areas of responsibility:

Proposals, Grants and Contracts

· Identify prospects and develop and coordinate the submission of grant and contract proposals for public service radio projects. Duties include researching potential funding sources (e.g., foundations, public agencies, public relations firms and non-profit partners), writing and editing narratives, completing applications and budgets, compiling supporting materials and coordinating proposal submission.

· Draft and edit grant reports and ensure timely submission.

· Respond to frequent requests for information about Radio Bilingüe’s services, rates and budgets.

· Maintain grant and donor submissions and reporting systems.

· Coordinate across departments to gather information to inform proposals and reports.

· Ensure the timely completion of high-quality grant deliverables and other development products and other compliance-related tasks.

Communications

  • Develop written content and help shape materials that tell Radio Bilingüe’s story to funders, partners and the general public. Products include electronic and printed marketing materials, press releases, newsletters, website, social media, reports, speeches and other documents.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development and implementation of Radio Bilingüe’s communications strategy.

Major Gifts and Individual Donors

· Assist Radio Bilingüe’s leadership, staff and board in launching and implementing a major gifts and individual donor campaign.

· Support digital fundraising outreach to listeners and partners, including drafting compelling e-blasts and other related communications.

· Assist in implementing Radio Bilingüe’s annual listener pledge drive.

· Coordinate occasional special events.

Strategy

  • Participate in funding strategy development with Radio Bilingüe’s Development and Leadership teams, including evaluating outcomes and recommending and implementing adjustments.
  • Keep abreast of fundraising trends.

· Assist in preparing oral and written development presentations for Radio Bilingüe’s Board of Directors and others.

· Help cultivate and maintain Radio Bilingüe’s relationship with funders, including providing appropriate updates to foster engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Minimum two years of experience in non-profit fundraising/marketing with significant writing and deadline responsibilities. Proposal writing samples will be requested (redacted versions accepted).
  • Outstanding English-language writing skills, with the ability to communicate complicated concepts succinctly and make persuasive arguments
  • Excellent interpersonal, outreach and engagement skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, including meeting deadlines
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat and database management
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus but not required
  • Graphic Design programs and basic HTML/web knowledge a plus

SALARY/BENEFITS

The compensation range for this position is $60,000 - $68,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a regular, full-time position that requires flexible scheduling for occasional work on weekends or evenings. WORK LOCATION

This position offers the opportunity to work physically at Radio Bilingüe’s headquarters in Fresno, California, or remotely for qualified candidates based in other locales who have demonstrated strong remote working skills.
