JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Development Manager
Reports to: Director, ECDC Multicultural Community Center (ECDC MCC)
Status: Full-Time/Exempt
Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000 annually with possible additional commission
Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Job Summary: ECDC is seeking a proactive and resourceful Development Manager to establish and operate our new development department. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Resettlement Programs Manager, this role will focus on building sustainable funding streams, establishing a strong digital presence, and expanding donor engagement strategies. Initially this will be the sole staff member within the department however this role will evolve to include supervision of a Development Coordinator as the department grows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Development Strategy and Execution
- Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, emphasizing individual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, crowdfunding, and special events.
- Research and initiate crowdfunding campaigns and digital fundraising strategies to reach new and diverse donor groups.
- Track industry trends to apply innovative methods that diversify revenue streams and align with ECDC’s mission and community needs.
Digital Marketing and Donor Engagement
- Oversee digital marketing efforts to boost visibility and reach, including managing social media campaigns, email marketing, and content creation for online platforms.
- Develop and execute targeted digital strategies for donor acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- Use storytelling techniques to effectively convey ECDC’s impact through digital channels, enhancing donor engagement and outreach.
Grant Management
- Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities aligned with ECDC’s mission and programmatic goals.
- Prepare, write, and submit grant proposals and applications.
- Track grant deadlines, manage reporting requirements, and ensure compliance.
Donor Stewardship and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors through consistent and strategic communication, including online updates and impact reports.
- Develop and implement a donor stewardship plan to build donor loyalty and increase giving.
- Plan and execute donor engagement events and virtual gatherings that foster a deeper connection with ECDC’s work.
Collaboration and Supervision
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Resettlement Programs Manager, and other departments to align development goals with organizational priorities.
- Provide regular updates and reports on fundraising progress and outcomes.
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of a Development Coordinator as the department expands.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, digital marketing, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience with crowdfunding platforms, social media marketing, and digital fundraising strategies.
- Strong understanding of grant writing, individual giving, and donor cultivation.
- Proficiency in digital marketing and donor management tools (e.g., CRM software, social media analytics).
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Licenses/Certifications: Must have a driver’s license and good driving record.
Physical Demands
· Moderate physical activity, which includes standing, sitting, lifting and/or walking.
· Ability to see within normal parameters.
· Ability to hear within normal parameters.
· Requires local travel to meetings.
· Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Environmental Factors: Work is partially indoors in a climate-controlled building and in the field organizing volunteer group efforts as needed.
Contact with Others: Position involves regular contact with resettlement network affiliates; local, state, and federal government agency employees, private sector organizations, ECDC/MCC VT staff and community members.
