SHORT DESCRIPTION

OverDrive is seeking a dynamic marketer to drive growth in their digital content business targeted at K-12 schools, focusing on innovative marketing strategies and collaboration with multiple teams to enhance adoption and engagement.

We are in a hybrid schedule, 2 days on campus and 3 days WFH
OverDrive is seeking a talented and dynamic marketer to lead the growth for our digital content business (ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and curriculum support), with an emphasis on increasing adoption within K-12 schools. This role provides a unique opportunity to drive both inbound and outbound marketing strategies for our two-sided marketplace, prioritizing the expansion of our footprint in schools across the U.S. and globally.
As an integral member of our marketing team, you will work closely with the content acquisition and development group, sales teams, library and education partners (schools, districts, and teachers). You will be responsible for ensuring our marketing channels deliver highly targeted, impactful communications to meet the needs of librarians, educators and administrators at the right time, while equipping the sales team with robust enablement tools and strategies.
You will be an expert on marketing trends particularly in the education sector, identifying innovative ways to reach key decision-makers, including curriculum directors and district administrators. This role will also include developing strategies to foster engagement with both digital content suppliers, libraries and K-12 buyers. Collaboration across teams such as product development, public relations, analytics, and content will be essential to creating cohesive marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities will include the development of marketing playbooks for educational content, and best practices for increasing engagement and usage among K-12 educators and students. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the intersection of marketing, education, and digital content, ready to drive measurable growth in the edtech space.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the OverDrive content and merchandising team to share key marketing insights that may inform the promotional calendar to further generate relevancy, visibility and revenue.
  • For our education business, create engaging and persuasive case studies, blog posts, white papers, testimonials, playbooks, product comparisons, brochures and videos as sales enablement support.
  • Work closely with publishing, audiobook, creator community industry. Become the marketing representative for OverDrive with various publishing and trade organizations.
  • Share consumer and customer insights to identify pain points. Collaborate cross functionally with the product team to improve the buyer and seller experience.
  • Partner with channel experts across content, marketing, PR communications, customer service, in-market teams, and sales channels to generate demand.
  • Conceptualize integrated marketing campaigns featuring our content that speaks to pain points of existing and prospective customers.
  • Build up the value proposition leveraging the voice of the customer to optimize product marketing messaging and to advise on product recommendations.
  • Develop product value propositions, narratives, customer messaging, naming and external facing proof points.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, prioritizing education, to help inform program creation and to help support the brand story.
  • Utilize personal engagement, relationship building, and analytical skills to develop a trusted advisory relationship for OverDrive to guide and influence customers and digital content supply partners to achieve their strategic and tactical goals.
  • Create marketing materials in support of promotional opportunity pitches to help digital content suppliers drive engagement and visibilities with their titles.
  • Define key metrics for success, and track progress against goals for the product, book, film, series and collection launches and in-market growth adoption of existing products or services.
  • Travel to meet partners or attend trade shows may be required to deepen knowledge of unique markets.
  • Measure results and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives, and use that information to drive better, more activities.
  • A creative eye to help build a ‘frictionless’ user experience and ensure that the, look, feel and messaging of marketing campaigns are aligned with content team’s vision.
  • In collaboration with Events Manager, audit the current trade show strategy and make recommendations. Reinvent how we evaluate opportunities.
  • As a member of the leadership team, demonstrates through decisions, actions and words a commitment to OverDrive’s mission and our sustainability and community outreach initiatives.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in Marketing. Preferred EdTech experience.
  • Experience driving marketing strategy across inbound and outbound channels.
  • Ecommerce experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent writing, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and influence stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to successfully establish priorities and manage time efficiently while working under pressure and dealing with ambiguity
  • Exceptional eye for visual, graphic, and campaign design
  • Self-directed, tactful, and diplomatic with a clear, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Strong leader, with the ability to mentor and coach a team, and the ability to influence cross- functional team members and senior leaders.
  • Creative, innovative, and an outside-the-box thinker.
