Position Summary:
The Digital Marketing Coordinator supports key digital marketing initiatives with a focus on email marketing, content creation and event calendar management to promote Dallas as a vibrant, welcoming and must-visit destination. The person in this role will contribute to the organization’s marketing objectives by creating engaging content, optimizing digital assets, and ensuring seamless coordination across channels. Essential Role and Responsibilities:
Email Marketing
- Assist in creating, scheduling, and managing email campaigns, including content development, audience segmentation, and performance tracking.
- Optimize engagement and open rates.
- Maintain templates to align with Visit Dallas brand standards and ensure mobile responsiveness.
- Assist team with proofreading collateral materials and communications as needed.
Website Content
- Collaborate to create and update website content, including blogs and landing pages.
- Conduct regular reviews of the website to identify outdated information and update accordingly.
- Assist in creating multimedia-rich web pages using photos, videos, and interactive features.
- Review and approve event submissions in alignment with organizational guidelines; respond to inquiries.
Social Media
- Assist in creating and scheduling posts, stories, and other content for Visit Dallas’s social platforms.
- Attend community events to capture photos, videos, and other content for digital library and use across social media and digital campaigns.
Graphic Design
- Assist with basic design projects and assignments as needed.
- Assist in maintaining Visit Dallas photo and video library, Brandfolder.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with the team to ensure cohesive campaign execution.
- Work cross-departmentally to align digital marketing content with broader marketing goals.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions to generate fresh ideas for digital campaigns and initiatives.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES
- Stay informed on digital marketing trends and provide input on how to integrate new tools and techniques into Visit Dallas strategies.
- Contribute to the organization’s safe, healthy, positive, professional and productive culture.
Expected Competencies, Performance Attributes and Characteristics:
- Passion for digital marketing and emerging technologies.
- Basic understanding of digital marketing channels, including email marketing, web, and social media.
- Familiarity with web content management systems (CMS).
- Proficiency in basic graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
- Experience using email marketing platforms (e.g., ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp) for campaign creation and automation.
- Knowledge of basic SEO principles, such as keyword research and on-page optimization.
- Comfort with project management software for task tracking and collaboration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn, with a growth mindset toward acquiring new skills.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (1-3 years) in digital marketing, including content creation and email marketing, preferably within the tourism or hospitality industry.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The person in this role will mostly operate in an office environment with frequent and consistent use of a laptop computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, cell phone and copier. It is largely a sedentary role with extended work time sitting and using a cell phone and computer with desktop accessories. There will be occasions working at off-site locations including the convention center, restaurants, music venues and hotels where the environment will vary.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with an expectation of 40 + hours of work each week. The regular office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm. Evening and weekend work and participation in events that occur outside of the regular office hours is expected regularly.
Expected Travel:
The person in this role can expect up to 30% local travel (within the Dallas area) and may require travel on occasion outside of Dallas and the immediate driving area to attend industry meetings, conferences, and other events or activities.
